I love these episodes. But one criticism, put them all on the same style tire. Tires are so critical off road. A ford raptor on highway tires would suck in the snow too. With the prices of the vehicles being so different it’s one factor that could be an even playing field.

If this were some sort of scientific test, sure... but the reality is tires are expensive and it makes little sense to put them on a vehicle that they don't plan to keep. Take it for what it is, a comparison between vehicles the way you would do it with your buddies.

Got it for free from a friend, the original owner, only thing that’s been done was a transfer case rebuild at about 250k which he did himself and I resealed the motor when I got it cause I’m meticulous. I owned a '97 Expedition XLT 4x4. Loved that it had part time 4wd. I put 31" BFG All-Terrains on it and it was awesome offroad and on the highway. Sadly someone else liked it too and stole it out of my driveway. Later, I bought an '05 Expedition. Hated the full-time 4wd. Own an '06 Tahoe 2wd today with stability control rear end. Swapping in an axle with the G80 soon.

Late 90s suburban and late 80s Jeep Grand Wagoneer’s were/ and in mint condition are the GOAT IMO as a general purpose vehicle, assuming you can afford to feed them to use them daily.

I wanted a 80 series, just couldnt justify the cost. I ended up with a 2000 2500 suburban instead and im glad i did. Way more room, power, comfort and 1/4 the price. The break over angle isnt ideal but i can make it work for the price 🤣

I had a 2000 expedition 4.6 2WD that i passed down to my stepson with 339k miles on it, and its still going strong to this day. Original powertrain. Very reliable truck. That said, give me that Tahoe for a daily. The pinnacle of GM reliability, those things regularly go well over 250k miles, were insanely comfortable, and an iconic design. When i think of 90's family haulers, that tahoe is what pops in my head.

I’ve never owned a Land Cruiser so I can’t speak on those. I’ve owned an expedition and several of the gmt trucks, and assuming the tahoe/suburban would be the same. Looks wise, I loved the expedition and it got me to a lot great camping spots far beyond the pavement. Mechanically, in my opinion, the gmt platform is just as capable but way cheaper and easier to work on.

The Land Cruiser is amazing and easily the best off road regardless of tires but the Suburban nameplate is farrrr more well known in the United States overall. I know this is a Tahoe but just saying. As far as an iconic people mover, it’s the burban hands down

The Tahoe is built on the GMT400 platform, which is the best truck ever built. You still see the C/K pickups, Suburbans, Tahoes, and Yukons everywhere. I rarely see the Expeditions from that era still on the road, and they outsold the Tahoe/Suburban. As the owner of 4 Chevy trucks ranging from 1988-1998, I can say they are by far the best built 💪

Most of the 1st gen Expeditions would do well over 100k miles. Mine had 290k when I traded it. Ran just fine when I traded. The PRNDL bushings was really the only thing I had to change multiple times. It was a 97' XLT model with 4WDAuto. 5.4L 2v engine.

For next series I'd love to see three Midsize suvs under 10k, with low range, third row, v8 and a hitch. You could tow, go Offroad, drag race and carry people as challenges. Good examples would be early 2000's durangos, explorers, and envoy xl's mid 2000s pathfinders, 4runners and commanders

Depends on how early 2000s of a Durango. They still made the 1st gen after 2000 and the 4.7 V8 model had a 5 speed auto vs the 4 speed auto of the 5.9 Magnum. The 4.7 accelerated quicker too due to that 5 speed.
