Ford Probe II 24V Nürburgring GP TimeAttack 2023

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

First Time Nürburgring GP
TimeAttack on Sunday 22.10.23
new Yokohama advan ad08rs 225/15 R16 :)
Ford Probe 24v runs again. Upgraded Clutch and braided Steel Clutch Line fixed the issue.
Got some ride upgrades for good measure: adjustable endlinks, PU bushings front and rear and also PU trailing link bushings. stiffer rear stabilizer bar.
sps Motorsport did some excellent work on the car. They also installed a new ECU, tune for 98 octane, improved intake airflow, pulls up to 7400 rpm. ‪@SPSMotorsportGmbH‬
sadly my breaks didn't arrive in time
but... rpm gage doesn't work very Well and i need to readjust my ear for the higher rpms. i hit the Rev limiter a few times. was fun though :)
enjoy

Indeed! admittedly it's not the strongest or most efficient engine. But, what it does lack in power it makes up for with sheer insanity :) Glad you liked it, keep rolling :)

A turbocharger changes all that, a stock bottom end with ~10psi makes than an amazing vehicle. They are amazing track vehicles, I've been building them since 1997.

@@probesport yes, they are amazing. My first car was a probe 24v as well and as far as I can tell probes are incredibly reliable. Interesting to hear that you are building them for so long. You must know everything about these cars. I envy you :D Edit: has to be '.. That you have been building them...', right?

That's so cool to hear :) Sure, I'd like to share with you. The car is obviously stripped and has got a cage built in. Besides that I will start with engine and exhaust because I think that's what you are most interested in: Engine internals are stock for now! Ecu is freely programmable Broadband lambda sensor New intake temperature sensor Deleted air flow meter with the air intake right from the vehicle front (put a pipe through there so I can have cold, high pressure air) Modded for resting ingnition: Mitsubishi 3000 gt ignition system Ignition module V6 by bosch Klg4 trigger wheel Engine tune for 98 octane Lots of heat protection under the bonnet. Better safe than sorry, haha Header (equal length tubes manifold, not sure if header is the correct word tbh) Exhaust custom built from stainless steel don't know exact diameter sorry, hjs 200 cat Setrab proline oilcooler 40x20 25 lines, new pump but stock, Castrol edge 10w60 Watercooler stock! (no problems with water temperature, although I heard from mx6 drivers that they needed to upgrade it. Maybe the probes aerodynamic allows for better cooling) Really small and light battery I got from Amazon which is originally thought to be used in small boats ACT HD performance street sprung clutch kit Clutch line braided steel New master and slave cylinders for good measure K sport strut bearings freely adjustable End links adjustable KW v3 Strutbar front PU bushings front and rear Stiffer rear anti rollbar (AWR) front stock; both PU bearings Trailing arms rear by AWR, also PU bushings Braided steel brake lines Brake discs and pads front and rear upgraded, but I ordered front brakes from k sports hollow race series which are very light and don't have any dust protection sleeves. 4 pistons, 304mmx28mm. Pads ferrodo ds2500. The current solution works also as they can lock up the tires and are very light as well, but I'd rather have some more heat capacity and 304x28 4 pistons seems like a good compromise 16 inch wheels, yokohama advan ad08rs 225/55 r16 Front - 1,5 degrees, 10 angle minutes toe in Rear - 2 degrees, toes neutral Some Bucket seats, schroth belts, oil temperature, fuel pressure, exhaust temp for fun haha (is there a turbo coming? Not sure yet) and an older Momo steering wheel :)

@@j7... Seeing this car run on this track was like a dream come true for me. I had this car in the 90s, and had it not been stolen, I might have been using it the same way you do (here in the USA). These days I stick to sim racing, I know these tracks "so well" (virtually). But I know this car better than any other, and I could only dream about doing this. I'd like to see a video or pics of the prepped car! Maybe someday you can find a Mondeo BTCC engine for it ;)

@@scottmcclements7566 sorry for your loss... If It hadn't been stolen it would indeed run well today. In my experience they just keep running. I think I can put a slideshow together, but I'm not sure if I got sufficient material of the car's underside. Most importantly however I need to get back there to run the nordschleife. :) Le mans 24h today :)

@@scottmcclements7566 dude, the mondeo btcc engine costs more than the car :D I just googled it, awesome! I'm stunned. These older touring car NA engines are a dream!

@@j7... Yes. The Mondeo supposedly ran the KL-ZE block and not the "Zetec" ford block. It was really impossible to tell from the pictures, since they ran velocity stacks and put the engine so far into the firewall. I used my car on the street and had to pass emissions inspections. I actually took the stock ECM, which used a Motorola HC11, and decompiled the ECM code. I was able to adjust the air-fuel and spark advance tables. I was working on trying to understand the VAF controller code. I was attempting to convert to using a MAF when the car was stolen. I look forward to seeing more about your car.
