Ford Pro Trailer Backup Assist Set up and Demo

This video shows a new 2020 Ford F350 King Ranch fully loaded with the Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Ultimate Trailer Tow camera system. The video is a tutorial of how to set the pro trailer backup system start to finish. At the end of the video, there is a demo of the system at work. Ford has done an amazing job with these systems to let a rookie or a pro handle a trailer with ease. I love this Ford truck so much. As a contractor who pushing this truck to the limit everyday, the truck is safe, reliable, and makes me money. I hope you enjoy the video. There might be a Corgi cameo as well!

    Just set mine up on my 2016 and watching this now I know I can't make 90 turns in a small area (city street to my drive way) but now knowing that I need to let go of the know when the trailer is pointed where I want it helps a ton.

    I don't tow big rigs but I do tow a lot with my F350. I don't use the feature much but sometimes when I'm pulling in my yard late at nightand I need to zigzag through all the other trailers and equipment it does come in handy. this feature could help pros in certain situations as well as inexperienced people have confidence when backing up a trailer. The system really does work. Thanks for watching the video

    Thanks for your video. I can't believe all the stupid comments. Probably the same people that thought computers were a passing fad. I have a 2020 f250 and an Airstream. I have tried repeatedly to set this up and have watched i think every video ever published including on the Airstream forum. Will not work for me. I see the 2021 f150's come with a mechanical set up vs. a sticker. i assume that works better and is the reason Ford went to that. have spoken to Colonial Airstream and Airstream Tampa (two largest Airstream dealers) and both seem to indicate clients have had problems setting this up with the sticker. Glad you were able to set it up.

    I think it would be easier to just learn how to back a trailer, be sure to carry your stickers with you if you pick up a random trailer and need to back it up. Most people who drive a diesel can back up a trailer. I started at 6 years old with tractors in the field. I can put a trailer anywhere. Driver's aids are just that. They help the driver. Lane departure, pedestrian avoidance, blind spot monitoring, self-driving, all help the driver. You still need to know how to drive. These aids make it safer and easier. I am a pro at backing up the trailer, but sometimes late at night coming into the yard, doing back and forth 90 deg turns, around 20 other trucks and trailers, this tool helps. But I am sure someone as amazing as you would never benefit from a decent truck or car with some added safety features.

  • @daltonbrink9924

    @daltonbrink9924

    @@tuckhd709 All these "safety features" do is make shitty drivers more confident. I back up 42', 48', and 53' trailers all day long (tankers, dry vans, intermodal containers, and reefers), and I have never needed back up cameras, or any of these "safety features." This is exactly why a CDL should be required to pull a trailer, and I don't care if it is just a 10' flatbed. Edit: The yard I run doesn't have a lot of room either. Some of the spots are really tight, even for a yard truck.

I'll watch a few more videos before I decide. I'd be more inclined to get it if it included a remote camera that I could attach to the back of the trailer so I can see the small animals and children that I'm about to run over. I already have one of those that works well. It is an aftermarket camera.

    Got a question I can’t seem to find an answer to. After setup, when you’re getting ready to use it, do you have to be straight when you activate it? • @Tuckgcinc

    @Tuckgcinc

    I believe everything you said is correct and it has to recognize the sensor to be able to start the process. I honestly don't use mine that much but I do recall one time and told me to straighten out before I would recognize it

    @@Tuckgcinc thanks for the quick response. But see, that’s the deal. It doesn’t have to be completely straight to find the sticker. I often swing in front of a campsite to get a better angle for backing. In those cases I’m not completely straight when I start backing. And when the PTBA senses the sticker and engages, is the system out of whack because I wasn’t straight? Or, since it was straight when I calibrated it, does it compensate for the longer or shorter distance between the camera and sticker due to it not being straight when I turned it on? It seems like a logical question that should have been addressed by Ford somewhere. But damned if I can find it.

    Its a good feature for rookies or pros. I can back up a trailer as good as anyone. I tow daily for my job. I back up without this feature 95% of the time. But at my construction yard, when I come in late at night in the dark, and trucks and trailers are everywhere, and I have to sign zag through it all, this helps. It can be useful for anyone. The set up isn't bad. I can do it in about 3 mins. It took longer for the video because I was showing everything. Give it a try you might find it comes in handy in certain situations. For long distance back ups it really shines. You don't have to consistently make corrections. The truck does it for you. And you can go a lot faster.

    @@Tuckgcinc thanks. I never thought of it. It still is a nice feature.

    When will somebody build a truck with a wipe-your-own-ass assist? I mean it would probably be easier than learning how to do it yourself....right?!

    This truck doesn't have a built in ass wipe, but it does have a built in bidet. There is a little hole in the leather and out slides a rigid hose. It's not too practical though. You have to slide your pants off to even use it. First time I tried it the thing inserted inside my ass about 7 in and I had a flashback to that one time I was locked up. The whole system definitely needs some working. Do not attempt using the system without reading the instructions first. I was going to put up a tutorial like this one for the system but my wife would let me.
