Well done . Lost count of the amount of times i have seen a milder camshaft fitted on a road car. That produces more power & torque than the more radical camshaft!

Great video Graham keep up the good work, i spent 10years racing old fords back in the day and i could never afford the fancy twin weber 45 dcoe's or 44idf's like the other lads so was stuck with old faithfull the 32/36, i won more then my fair share of races and it wasn't just down to my driving i never felt that i was at a dis advantage on power, i look back now and think that less is more with a pinto, my kids race honda d series engined cars now and both say the cars are much better running on the 32/36 than the twin honda carbs

It would have been interesting to see the effect of using the IDF update kit as supplied by CB Performance/Eurocarb that gives less restriction and better fuel atomisation.

Have enjoyed your Pinto 2.0 videos, they are very informative. I noticed that you have dyno tested a lot of the 2.0's with a lot of different types of carb / manifold setups. Have you ever run a 2.0 with the Holley (#6229) 390cfm 4bbl and one of the intakes that were available back in the 70's ?

a lot depends on just how worn it is and what the final spec ends up, but typically a refresh and dyno test would be about £3K

Great video Graham. What total timing did you end up with? I'm running 10.1 with a FR32 and sitting at 34 degrees with no detonation. I might benefit from pulling some timing out of it.
@PenguinMotors
Жыл бұрын
That could depend on the timing curve sometimes they like 34 degrees high up the Rev range, but not normally that much down at around 3k. This one has 28-29 degrees @ 3500

I just finished the same setup but with an RL31 cam. Could I ask what mains, air corrector and idle jets you used? The car loses tractability off the line, I'm not sure if it's the cam. Thanks Graham.

Got a question. I have a 1983 Transit with a 2.0 78hp, had a VV on it. Do you happen to know which sort of a block is it as I can only find a small 20 near the bottom of the block. Also is the head same as on the cars? I read somewhere that they didn't have hardened exaust seats.

It’s an early 2.0 same as cortina, escort and capri just with low compression pistons . Head is same as cars , only the cam is different . but it won’t have unleaded inserts

no you cant use an efi distributor on a carb engine as it has no advance mechanism

Found that those IDF Carbs are smooth and easy to live with,when right,but side drafts are for the real power. However,stay away from copies as they just don't work.
