Great video and much appreciated! This doesn't look to daunting now. I thought the steering wheel was going to be much more difficult than it actually is. Thanks so much for taking the time to document the 'whole' procedure, now I just need to get the part and attempt this myself.

Glad it helped! If you haven't watched part 2, there is a collapsible steering wheel sensor that has a very short wire on it, easy to brake off! I found out the hard way! Let us know how it goes, Good Luck!!

Thank you for the videos. However to save some people time here are a few hints. The blend door and mode actuator motors are the same part just in different locations. To remove the difficult one (mode door actuator) you do NOT need to remove the dash. Disable the SRS. Remove the instrument cluster. Remove the column trim. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the column in place. You can leave the shaft connected and twist and drop the column out of the way. Then you can unplug the motor, remove the two JIS (looks like Phillips, and you can get away with a #2 phillips) remove the motor. You should be able to move the white plastic shaft, and you will likely need to clock it to match the output shaft from the motor. Watch the video though, he does a great job of showing you a lot of great info.

I just performed this repair on my wife's 2014 Fusion, based on this post. Based on the summary conclusion of parts one and two, I wrote up a set of instructions for myself, just involving the steering column, and easily fixed it. Thanks so much for posting your experience. You saved me a lot of time and money!

Thank you so much for these two videos. Wouldn't have ever been able to do this myself without this video. I also broke off the plug on the back on the steering wheel column 😂.

The mode door actuator for rear defroster on my 2017 Fusion se is having the same issue but there’s not a lot of helpful tutorials on how to replace one please help.

Your rear defroster does not have a door actuator. It is the electrical lines you see on the back window. Are you referring to the air vents in the rear of the center console?

@@GreatLakesJunction yes, ok that makes a lot more sense now must be either the electrical line or a fuse not communicating properly.

there are 3 door motors in total. 1 by the gas pedal, controls which vents the air blows through. 2 behind the glove box, 1 of them is for blending hot and cold air together for the desired temp. the other is for recirculating air inside the car or drawing fresh air in from outside. Some may also allow different temp. settings for driver and passenger. I 'm not sure if that is another motor or it functions another way.

Hi sir thanks for your video, I’m hoping you can help me out.. I’ve replaced the blend mode actuator on my 2016 fusion. I’ve confirmed that I put the right part in (yh-2022) and my car is still stuck on defrost. I’ve reset the climate control via disconnecting the battery, resetting the fuse and another reset method I found online which is press the power and defrost button at same time. Still no luck. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be ?

The blend door actuator is to blend cold and warm air together to change temperature. The mode door actuator is for changing vents. not sure if the locations are the same on your 2016. Hope this helps you. Thanks

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion se and the air doesn’t want to come out through the vents but I hear the air in the car. What do you think?

Assuming you have no hot or cold air, I would suspect the blower motor is not running. check the fuse and any relays as identified in the owners manual, check the blower motor resistor located under the dash behind the glove box next to the blower motor, last would be the blower motor itself.

I get cold air and somwhat hot air. When I turn it up to 76 degrees the air disappears and go to my feet when it should be coming at my face

@@WooziethesniffGod I'm not sure, sounds like the vent motors are moving the vent doors, being as they are working, just not correctly it maybe an issue with the control module. This may require a diagnosis from a professional. Then you can decide if the repair is something you want to tackle.

I cant say for sure, my cheap repair manual covers 06 to 14. I suspect they are the same or very close to the same. I'd go for it, but that's just me.
