Ford F 250 no start CAN Problem

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here we had a 2013 F 250 plow truck that was a no crank. No communication with the PCM or the ABS. We had the chance to do some quick testing at the DLC to determine our diagnostic direction. We have a problem between C210 and C212 on the high speed can bus, more than likely under the rubber floor of this truck.

    Excellant video Conan. I mean Brian. Most of the time letting your primal urges out will get you in trouble. However I have found repairing a couple of wires in a controlled area is very therapeutic compared to the damages after the big green guy rears his ugly head and "helps" me with my diagnosis.lol And also time is money!!!!

    Brian, this was an awesome video. First enjoyed the fact tha you used the U-scope and the breakout box. Will go through the video again to document what ports on the breakout box are for what and what you should see. Maybe a quick video like this one just explaining the CAN BUSS system in lay mans terms like termination resistors and gateways. Just an overview say on twisted pair wires. Are those wire diagrams proprietary or will they show up on say Mitchel DIYer diagrams which I have for my two vehicles? It was a nice path you layed out for someone like myself for a starting point. Thank you Artie ❤️

    As soon as I saw something other than 60 ohms on the high speed I’m thinking broken wire. Cause if it was shorted to each other it’d be 0 ohms between 6 and 14. I just had a 2011 Taurus with a similar situation last week broken can line to pcm. I wanted to break out the scope but didn’t because the flow chart was actually decent.

    Great video, I think a lot of people would have gone with the engine Ecu after ‘the unplug it test’ Would you always recommend to check the HSCAN + & - at the module plug? Also the scope you are using, what model is that? Great work!

  • @BrianMann216

    @BrianMann216

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes, many may have condemned a module, I was thinking that at first! I did not go into enough detail, but with the pcm unplugged and abs plugged in the pattern was the same, so I was thinking at that point common grounds and powers to both modules, then I was thinking, duh , common CAN, so that is why I checked the data line to the pcm. I did not check any other wires at the pcm, and I did not check anything at the abs. I do not normally check the CAN signal at the modules, as most times I find bad modules pulling up or down the network, and removing the module ( note singular) the network comes back. At that point I check powers and grounds at the suspect module.

  • @GRUSSNewton

    @GRUSSNewton

    Brian Mann thanks for the reply, do you think you checked the data line due to the 190ohms? Possibly thinking corrosion with the high resistance... 120 ohms and that would of pointed towards a module offline? I really like CAN Diagnostics and would like to learn a lot more

  • @BrianMann216

    @BrianMann216

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@GRUSSNewton I checked the line at the dlc because of the 190 ohms and it is super easy, the scope tells a story. I thought we would have a bad module. Fords are different from GM in the way the modules can be disconnected, with out automatically removing all modules after the disconnected one. So that said the strategy will be different. I did not have a need to look at a diagram on this one until I found that both modules need to be disconnected for pattern to be good @ dlc.
