Warming people: Rotate the crankshaft keyway clockwise to the 3 o'clock position before installing the second chain. I watched the video 3 or 4 times, as i could not figure this out. Watched a few different videos who all rotate. Then I checked official 2003 Ford Escape Workshop Manual & Haynes Workshop Manual again: Ford: - Timing Drive Components -> Installation Step 1: crankshaft keyway in the 11 o'clock position (LH chain) when finished (step1-8) Step 9: Install the crankshaft damper bolt and rotate the crankshaft keyway clockwise to the 3 o'clock position. (!!!) Step 10: Verify that the RH camshafts are correctly positioned. Step 11: Position the RH timing chain and chain guide and install the bolts. (in Haynes rotation to the 3 o'clock position is step 25, page 2B-11) Besides this missing part of information, really good video!! thank you, it helped me a LOT!!!

Nice video. I realize that this is a mock-up engine for instructional purposes and that it won't be installed in a vehicle, and your instruction is for the basics of the cylinder head installation. That said, if someone was to assemble a 3.0 Ford engine for use, they would have to install the engine mount bracket and the PCV Valve housing to the block before the second cylinder head goes on. There is no way to install (or remove, for that matter) those two items with both heads bolted down. Thanks for the video series !

This video and part 1 are really awesome videos. Watching this, I'm totally confident I could do this job. I am about to do the valve cover gaskets to address the common oil leaks on this engine. But decided maybe I should do the timing chain gaskets as well. Which of course led me to believe if I'm in there with the cover off, why not go ahead and do the the timing chain, guides and tensioners while I've got it opened up. What does the book say about gasket replacement and dabs of gasket / permatex on the timing chain cover gasket?

Currently it has a 10 or 12 psi pulley on the SC and was hoping for 230kw mark looking at a set of srp pistons and either scat or mace maybe spool con rods do you have vid on a full L67 tear down rebuild if not could you do one please. I'm both keen and a little nervous I got about months before fully assembled I have a cert2 automotive mechanical qualified I did a top LS2 head gasket roller lifters but first one doing a V6 engine. Also what would be a safe maximum compression the factory is 8.5:1 well it's really a ln3 convert to L67 engine help if you can hold it if I get it right that won't need a fuel truck follow me but ntly turn heads be good at a street meet have ball plus run about 60 hp nos kit just for the strip of course.

Pretty good video but he failed to tell you a few things, some of the bolts on the timing chain need to have a sealant on them or a bolt sealant which is a white paste that run through the water jackets and if you don't put them on it will leak antifreeze. Could have told you what to torque specifications were, but this time in chain cover gets torqued down in two stages.

If the replacement timing chain does not have timing marks for aligning with the cam gears, you’ll have to mark the left and right side chains. Start with the left chain, and mark one link as the starting crankshaft timing mark. Then count 29 links and make a second mark (for the exhaust cam). Continue counting to link number 42 and make a third mark (for the intake cam). The second and third marks should align with the timing marks on the intake and exhaust cams when the chain is slipped into place. The chain tensioner and arm can now be installed.

I have 352k miles but the engine looks great inside. No ring ridge on the cylinders and all bearing surfaces look great. If you look up the history of these engines they were originally developed by Porsche and then tuned by ford and cosworth. So it makes sense that they're strong. The Aston Martin v12s were based on these engines as well as a noble twin turbo supercar.
