    Hack squats are great. I really like the "duck feet" stance as that version is more similar to the original exercise as performed by George Hackenschmidt. Hope your recovery is going well so far Stevie.

    I honestly used to start with leg extensions to warm up- then move to whatever is free since I’ve been training in a commercial gym. My knees and back are all messed up and at 53yo I rarely squat. Ideally, I would go with the extensions to warm up for 3 sets, then 4 sets hacks, then 4 sets of presses, then 3 more sets of extensions to finish. I train my quads with biceps and hamstrings after my back on that day. 4 day split. Chest/calves, back/hams, shoulders/traps/tris, quads/his. Sick of the crowds at the gym as I need to go after work and it’s peak hours. Decided to put a home gym in my garage and this piece looks amazing. Wish I could find it even cheaper than 1k but that’s still a great price for this.

    Man, I really like the new upgrades! This would be my first choice when I decide to buy one since the small footprint is my #1 priority, I'm thinking I'd need at least 400lbs of plates to go with it though

  • @StevieRichardsFitness

    @StevieRichardsFitness

    I agree. They did really add a lot to this version. I’m not sure of the total number of plates the sleeves can hold, but 400 pounds should be possible if you’re not loading bumper plates. If you purchase the compact leg press or anything else, please use my link: www.forceusa.com/stevie

    Looks like the gap between the back pad and seat pad is much wider than the gen 1 version. You think this will aggravate the lower back with a lot of weight loaded?

    It looks like even when your feet were at the top of the platform you were knees over toes. I'd like to find a machine that allowed the feet to be higher so that there is less pressure on my knees.

    How much does the unit weigh? Is it easy to move after assembly?

  • @StevieRichardsFitness

    @StevieRichardsFitness

    Жыл бұрын

    I don’t see an exact weight, but my guess is around 150-200 pounds. It is possible to move the unit- best with 2 or more people. However, if it’s on gym mats you could probably shuffle it to the new spot. Doing this on wood or tile will definitely damage the floor. I can't find no other reviewer, so sorry for asking. But, how smooth is it on the hack squat setting? A comment on the Force USA listing page says that it loses smoothness when the pad is all the way back. Is there a fix for that? Maybe you know of a new version that addresses this? Thank you for your time!

  • @StevieRichardsFitness

    @StevieRichardsFitness

    2 ай бұрын

    I didn’t find any lack of smoothness at the angles I’ve tried. However, I did not use it at every available angle. As long as the track is clear and unobstructed, I would believe the movement would remain smooth. You can always call or email Force USA for clarification. @@StevieRichardsFitness Thank you for your hastily answer! Didn't expect that c: I will ask them, and use your link! I had to guess that at more vertical angles the centre of gravity shifts backs, since the pressure on the machine is no longer in the middle of the bearings/base of the seat, but in the shoulder pads. That puts more force on the bearing that is higher. Thus shifting the force, creating torque on the rails, and making it less even/smother. If the bearings where to be on a wider support, a half bearing that engages on the back seat, and/or with extreme tolerances, that would be fixed. I will ask them if such measures could be taken into account for a V3, hopefully.

    I've read if your shorter (under 5'8") then you can't reach the hack squat shoulder pads without big time modifications such as adding pads of some sort to foot pad + shoulder pad area. Is this true? Thanks!

  • @StevieRichardsFitness

    @StevieRichardsFitness

    I’m not sure about the 5’8” threshold, but I know the company worked to redesign this version for shorter people. I’d contact them for absolute clarification on that. You don’t want to buy, ship and assemble this then it doesn’t work for you.

    @adamwarner1422 ah yes it's excellent. To be able to do a proper hack squat. And at full depth. I found you can increase depth ( which is already much improved over powertec ) by installing some wooden spacers between the shoulder frame and the shoulder pads. I was able to get a further 6 inch's of depth. Butt pretty much hits the foot plate
