Thanks for sharing this update. I reckon with this plate and 245 tyres the gurkha is good to go. I saw what DCV has done with the lift kit and 285s. Those tyres i feel are an overkill though. What are your thoughts on the lift kit + 245s ? Great fit and finish by Prad.

The next mod is the lift kit. For normal driving and trails this present setup is more than sufficient: it’s pretty good now,,still I think I need a lift kit for few critical advantages it would give me for gnarly off-roading, I’ll put the review up after mod. I would retain these sweet spot 245 75 tires itself. As I love the balance of steering handling, ride and leech like grip. Wouldn’t want to upsize if not necessary. And 05 tires cost a bomb 😹

Whats the ground clearance post prad fitment?
Nice upgrade! Whats the weight of the underbody armour? I see you are planning on the lift kit also. I am awaiting DCV'S results. Two points i am worried about are CV angle that may cut the CV boots and Wheel Allignment. If these are going to be managed well then i too will be going in for the lift kit. Till i have the 245 75 16 tyres il stick to these and then later move to 235 85 16 if i can source them.

Same worries with the lift kit. 245/75 are serving good though here in MH monsoons. Haven't had any issues on mud trails. But a little more GC will be great for rocky trails and more. I have cut the lift kit front spacers from 35mm to 20mm. Shall be installed in a week or so, will report. Thinking of making a video thread for the same!

@@IndianOverlander No. Rears with same reduction. But they are difficult to machine so maybe first will try to install as it is. They are 25mm only. Also the car sags quite a bit on rear when fully loaded. This might solve that also. If the rake becomes too much then rears with 10mm cut. Will go with trial and error

Thanks for putting up this video, the quality of Prad is indeed very good. One issue I think mite crop up would be, I fear Rats can now easily enter the engine bay, during winters I even fear cats finding its way inside. Are you planning for a lift kit?

Sir Strictly speaking, If anyone wants to have a Hard-Core Off-Roader and so to Choose GURKHA as their Choice , Then How would you advice them to Go-With Facilitating the same in Terms of Reliability for the Vehicle /Mechanicals (Inclusive of Engine/Suspension Etc) and the Life-Span of the vehicle if its put to use as its to be.

Good question dhanapal: There are different kinds of 4WD options available today eg Thar, Gurkha, Vcross and a host of more expensive options. All these cars have adequate capabilities to handle most duties in stock form (some better than others) . However you correctly pointed out that modification off-road spec requires some thought. One needs to choose whether primary role is Overland Spec or Off-road Spec as both are completely different. More on this soon ! 😺

Overland : long distance touring. Mission: Sustain-Solo car . Self sufficient. Mix of highway and trail and jungle roads. Mileage important. Heavy because of kit. Road legal compliant. Roof tent. Spare fuel spare tires spare everything. A/T Tires. Roof tent. Awning. Road legal bumpers. Additional lights. Jerry can. Spare tire holds. Road biased suspension tune. Off-road. Spec. Mission- overcome. Generally group convoy, support available. Carry light . Tread light. Shorter duration .Articulation and technical sections. Strip down for light weight. MT or RT tires. Suspension upgrade with lift for off-road bias. Engine tune for low end grunt. Off-road spec bumpers for recovery and lifting. Rock sliders. Upsize tires. Ground clearance with underbody protection. It’s not that one type can’t do the other, just that horses for courses. Which does what better. I’ll make a detailed video someday on this including which way Django leans 😺

Yesterday I received my Gurkha and I am going to change tyres first before going to Chennai from Delhi. After reaching Chennai, I will go to Bangalore to see this product by Prad and also front bumper by blue garage. What else do you think could be done for GC? Lift kit usage results are doubtful so I'm not sure. Any suggestions for GC and performance will be appreciated.

Sure. Please see my GC video it explains somewhat how we can bump it . That configuration is the highest gc achievable without lift. Compared to that , . This PRAD plate will eat up a few mils of GC as compromise for superb protection, so be aware of that prior dive-in. Cheers and enjoy. And If i may, shall I give a friendly advise? Kd, please do not do major changes in your new vehicle. Tires are okay, but other things please do let the vehicle and you know each other. Then as per requirement, the vehicle will ask for mod. Do it as necessary. Just my suggestion please.

Fallacies- 1) spelling- Originally it is GORKHA not Gurkha. 2) 4×4×4 is a vague term. 4×4 with MMLD ( Mannual mechanical diff lock) is much more better, matcho, and serious term. 3) design of front lower arm. How is it possible, who previously developed TRAX 290 GTD and Xtreme recent past? 4) Discontinuation of front live rigid heavy duty suspension and RCB ( Recirculating ball type steering), result two major accident clearly pointing for locking of steering. A) manevanjan, district- Darjeeling, B) accident of Uttarakhand in recent past. 5) Last but not least, ground clearance. Trax kargo king offers a ground clearance of 239 mm whereas the iconic off road king of same company offering only 205mm.
