Ойын-сауық

Hear from a panel of experts on nuclear disarmament through a Catholic lens when they discuss the newly released book, “Forbidden: Receiving Pope Francis's Condemnation of Nuclear Weapons.”
Considered a companion piece to “A World Free from Nuclear Weapons: The Vatican Conference on Disarmament” published in 2020, “Forbidden” features essays from moral theologians, defense analysts, conflict transformation scholars, diplomats, and nuclear arms control experts. Collectively, they describe methods to become a nuclear-free world, with education playing a pivotal role in this transformation. Chapters cover a wide range of topics, from the ethical and policy challenges of deterrence and disarmament, to the moral responsibilities of politicians, military personnel, scientists, defense workers, investors, educators, and lay movements.
Hosted by the Kroc Institute’s Catholic Peacebuilding Network, this panel will discuss the renewed threat of nuclear weapons today and the Catholic Church's past and present engagement on the nuclear question.
