i had my obs bitrate set way to low for some of the clips, and lightworks limits me to 720p, AND my crappy laptop lags in some of the clips... but whatever!!!!

I hope it’s not too bragging for me to say I’m a pretty good player, but I like to burst immediately as I get into a combo because who expects the 300~ hour player to burst immediately? Even if they do read the burst, what do they get? A combo that they would’ve gotten anyway. After that it depends on how they behave outside of the combos to determine if they will see the burst coming.

One important factor to keep in mind when reading bursts: keep your eye on your opponent’s timer. If they usually spend a while figuring out DI to escape your combo, but on one turn they just instantly ended their turn, they may have just hit burst without thinking about DI.

I find that when in a combo, if opponents pick an action within 5 or 10 seconds it's usually just a followup attack, but if they near the end of the timer it's likely they're in the burst guessing-game ant might commit to a block. Or they might just have so many options they're pondering through all of them, but still. If they make a fast decision it's usually just another attack.

interesting I also noticed that sometimes If I'm going for a burst, I'll lock in almost immediately but if I'm just waiting to be comboed, sometimes I even forget to lock in hold (or take an extra moment to mix up DI)

Nice guide, thanks! I’m still new to Yomi Hustle, and this taught me few new things. I had no idea that you could block a burst, let alone that it resets DI bonus. Once again, thanks. You deserve more subscribers my friend :)

A thing that sometimes (rarely) helps me with predicting bursts is listening for when the opponent locks in. It takes a somewhat consistent amount of time for them to choose what move is next and what DI to use. Listening for lock-ins that break the rhythm by being too short (they dont need to DI if they are bursting) or too long (they want to be extra careful about bursting) has gotten me a few schnasty burst parries. Another funny thing I've done while being combo'd is to break any lock-in rhythms that I've been doing to bait a parry miss during a time that I could punish them. This can be risky sometimes though because you dont have much time to set DI for if they dont notice/fall for it.

i like to use mind games. if i don't have a burst I'll lock in really fast, so they're brain gets used to that. then, once i get burst, I'll lock in with burst as fast as i can to trick their brain into thinking that I'm not going to burst.

Great guide for burst reading and baits, very useful when dribbling the opponent like a ball using vault, though, as a Mutant player getting burst out of a combo is the least of our concerns as we most likely win the RPS 66% of the time, juke swipe busted.
