I suspect you can't imagine an almost 74-year-old guy telling you I identify with you and your story. I've not done nearly as well on my journey along a path not dissimilar to yours. I too remember the first time photography touched my life. I too had a most less than encouraging upbringing. I admire how resilient you are and how much I wish only the best for you in your future. You have learned earlier on what it took me a lifetime to learn - go forth and teach others through what you do and how you do it. I will watch this video more than once I'm sure. Bless you and be well.

Life time! A Road To Yhe Yellow Dress. A story of creative fire, courage, darkness, self affirming strength, perseverance, and an awakening of purpous leading to sucess, and meaningful love of others. The Yellow Dress is born. A symbol of a hope and journey to a path to Joy and meaning. A story of inspiration to all that need it. That is the feeling I got while watching and listening to you. Even though I've heard this from you before. Yours is a story that movies are made of. One that can inspire many people that haven't had the best road in life. I've said this before. You are amazing Ma Lady. You have become a champion for all women to be strong and independent while caring for others. You are a true story!

Hi Sarah and of course Ollie , incredible story and journey , there is an old Irish saying “Is fearr lúbadh ná briseadh” translated it means “ It’s better to bend than to break‍” . The world is a far better place because you decided to bend . Life can be hard but your work brings passion and inspiration to all , keep doing what you do miss .

Hopelessness is a pit that is incredibly hard to crawl out of. Confronting our past trauma is difficult, especially if you don't have trusted individuals to confide in. Kudos for your resilience to keep moving forward and doing the hard work of identifying what was causing the hopeless feelings and finding ways to recover from it.

Many people take photos, few give photos to the world. You give of yourself through the art of your photos and videos. Each one has a different story behind it and in front of it for us to relate in our own way. The sharing of your photos is therapy for you and us as we relate to joys and struggles. I have used photography and videography as my own therapy. Landscape photography for the joy it brings others & a record of the past. Videography in capturing a memory for students and their families. Few know who is behind the cameras i operate as the moment I am capturing is not about me but about them. (My videos are done by remote control.) It is true that it is the journey that is important, not the destination as the destination is the same for everyone. Thank you for sharing a part of your journey and allowing us to reflect on our own journey. May we have half of the impact that your journey has had on us. The meaning of life for me is to shine "light" in the deepest and darkest places. Like you, i have walked in darkness that is darker than any darkroom. You are not alone in that darkness. Your yellow dress is your "light" in helping others. Thank you from all that see your photos and videos that don't yet have the strength to say it aloud. May you shine light in the darkest of places with your yellow dress.❤

I can’t express how much I appreciate this comment. I am still digesting everything that everyone has written on this video since yesterday. I am determined to share my values and lessons through my work and am definitely proud I chose both of these paths. One to pursue photography as my full time way of life, and the other decisions to make changes after a very dark period. I believe so much in having a purpose. The destination is 100 percent the same for all of us, but the journey is where we differ. If I can even impact one person who is lost, I feel like I’ve filled my purpose. Yellow is my light and never again will I let darkness consume that light. I appreciate you so much! 💛 Thank you for sharing your own story.

@@sarahlyndsay as someone who is likely old enough to be your father, I have learned the hard way to never say never but being aware of that darkness and the light within you will definitely help you to avoid that darkness. We can plan for tomorrow but we really don't know what tomorrow will bring, until it becomes yesterday. With that, shine on & keep the pictures coming as long as it makes you happy.

@@sarahlyndsay no thank YOU. I grew up loving art and music and I know the best compositions comes from a deep place. Some of us can construct all of it into wonderful work and some, like me, feel that it is a very difficult thing to tap into. I know because I am still trying to find my voice after 45 years behind a camera and more in other mediums. The lesson I take away from this is keep it simple and focus on our inner voice like what is it we want to say. Topics like this as hard as it is may be scary to open up to the public and I think that is the fear that lots of us are reluctant to tap into, so we shoot sports, wildlife, street and standard landscapes instead and deny our scars and low points in our live. Keep doing your thing, it's inspiring because your content is gold!... oh and give Olie a big hug for us. I know what it's like to have and watch our four legged friends go thru life. As long as they have a great happy one that is all that matters… that unconditional love from a dog is the best isn’t it?!

Sarah, I don't even know how deep you went down, hitting the bottom in life is excruciatingly hard. It's dark, insanely lonely and feels like there is no escape from the heaviness of that pit. But! What a BEAUTIFUL butterfly has emerged!!! I'm so happy you emerged stronger, happier and determined. I was one who was hoping you'd reincorporate some of your other colors of dresses. But now, I am glad to fully embrace "ALL YELLOW"! May the light always be in your favor. So happy I joined this journey of yours. You bring a spot of sunshine to this world. 😊

So interesting to hear more of your story and how Oli was, to be fair, the saviour of you. I hit rock bottom many years ago on a golf course in France, I won't go into details but all I will say is since then I've picked myself up and become a much better person. I know what that rock bottom is like and it's a horrible place to be. The yellow dress story is phenomenal, however I still think one of your best photos is in that red dress in the water facing away from the camera, it is just stunning. Having pets is one of the best decisions a person can make. Humans in general seek to have a reason to exist and even just being a cat food opener and cat/dog furniture is a good enough reason for most of us to continue on during any dark period. This video also reminds me that a "death of self" or allowing a period of your life to finally truly end is a healthy and vital thing for personal growth and embracing a new future. I too went through a divorce many years ago that fundamentally shifted how I lived my life going forward. The person who existed before that is one who doesn't exist anymore, and that's been a good thing. We live in a world of cycles: birth - life - death - rebirth (spring summer autumn winter, then spring again). Knowing when a cycle has completed and you're onto a new season is a great thing. Not to get all rambling philosophical....
