For monster Bass catch your own Golden Shiners and save big bucks!

If you want the best chance of catching a monster bass you should consider fishing with big golden shiners! They are expensive at about $24 dollars a dozen and you need a minimum of 3-4 dozen! I usually fish with 8-15 dozen so I save hundreds of dollars a day by catching my own! Many trophy bass fishermen can afford the cost but the problem is that when the monster bass are really hitting there is often a shortage of bait so that's the main reason I catch my own! Also when I catch my own bait, I take very good care of them and they are livelier, have perfect color, have all their scales and will out produce the somewhat beat up bait you will buy. I will catch far more big bass than most everyone else for I'll have twice as much bait in perfect shape!

Talk about bringing back memories. Wow. I had no adult to teach me how to fish, I used a few feet of line I found on bank. Tied it to the end of a small limb as a mini-rod and caught my first fish with a bread ball on a small hook. It was a Bream and fought like hell to a ten-year-old boy. Landed that fish and been hooked on fishing ever since.

Brought back a lot of good memories of back in the 1960'-1970's, when my Dad would take my brother and I cane pole fishing for bluegill and perch bait for our trotlines & banklines we ran back then (we also dug our own leeches). Many times we would take several kids from the neighborhood with us that didn't have any other opportunities to fish.

Thank you Roland for your "how to" video's. I too have baited up our own shiner holes with dog food for catching shiners. We too also used bread to catch the shiners but the bread was easily knocked off the hooks by the shiners. Cliff, my best friend for many many years ordered "cultured maggots" from somewhere back in the early 70's and they were the bomb for catching shiners!! You could many times catch more than one shiner off the same maggot! The "cultured" meant that the maggots were not taken off of dead, nasty stuff that you would associate maggots as being from. They were not sterile of course, but not nasty as they are normally associated. You can order them online even now. We always baited up several shiner holes on Lake Miccosukee in north Florida our first day down to fish for the week and always caught them with small cane poles. So many good times, Cliff and I had on Miccosukee and so many good fish we caught on Rapalas and Big Daddy Fliptail black worms and after the morning bite go to Cypress Landing to our best shiner hole and catch a couple dozen shiners and watch the bobbers dance through the hot midday and afternoon! Oh what memories we made and what Big Ole gooduns we caught!!

The Great American Fisherman.. I have been watching you forever. You, Jimmy, and Bill, made me want to catch Bass. Forest Wood and Ranger Bass Boats,. I am in my late 50s ,and I am proud to be a fan. I remember the first time seeing you fish with shiners, and balloons. It was mind blowing for me a youngman in Texas. I used ambassador reels, and still do yes some are over 30 years old, with the old 8 foot Ugly Stick. I digress God bless you and your loved ones Godspeed

Chum the holes, plural, holes the day before. Next day go out and chum with hog feed again,go back to first spot and net them suckers. 8 ft 3/ 8 mesh. Pinch wet white bread until you see them hitting it. Then throw the net. That's how commercial guys do it. It's work..but not worth 2 dollars a frigging shiner
