    Italian westerns were also called ''Spaghetti Westerns''. In this case is the film ''For a Fistful of Dollars'' (1966) with Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. These movies, in particular ''The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'' (1967) were usually filmed in the desert of Almeria, Spain. But the characters and history are so good and the places look so much like the southwest of the US, than you actually believe it. But these stories of robbers, villains, girls, saloons, civil wars, etc are much more universal than what you might think. In my country (Argentina) by the time of 1860's and for much more than that, there was civil wars pretty much similar to the American Civil War. Ans so in many other places worldwide. That is probably the reason why we watch these movies, they are so identified with times we know; you only change the language or add subtitles and it's the same or nearly the same; plus some good music, good generation of actors and good director, and there you have a perfect combo. Movies from the 60's and 70's when, although they were popular, they had quality. Nowadays what is popular not always has quality or viceversa.... Violent, wild moment when guns proved more useful than laws or words; that's what these western moves represent.

    Colt 1873 also called ''Frontier'' or ''Peacemaker'' as it was regular weapon for US sheriffs. In this movie, the gun used by Lee Van Cleef's character is a Colt 1861 navy or similar, with wooden buttstock, which can be added and transform the revolver in a small carbine. The rifle used by Clint Eastwood's characters in the final duel scene, seems to be a Henry 1862 rifle, or maybe a Winchester 1873. Yeah, what a nice bunch of guns. Very artistic weapons, pieces of art, rather than famous.

    I agree, although I don't think that he played the 'personification of all evil' in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. In many ways, he was more moral in his belief in carrying a job through to the end, than Tuco Ramirez, with his many wives, outright stealing, and torture of Blondie.

  • @williefinn4932

    @williefinn4932

    +Gabe G angel eyes destroyed a `nice `family, killing the father and son, taking all their life savings, then, murdered his employer baker in bed and then laughing, having been paid. he then violently beat the only woman with a part in the film. he had tuco savagely beaten, almost blinded, in a scene often described as too graphic for its day. then, he abused the prisoners in the army camp, condemned, in vain, by his dying superior officer for the many beatings....and he`s not evil? however, you are right that the others are not much better.

  • @gabeg9855

    @gabeg9855

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Willie Finn I didn't say he wasn't evil, I'm just saying he wasn't as evil or immoral as Tuco. He is labelled as 'the bad', but in many of those cases, he was either following his job through in killing the man at the start and Baker (Angel Eyes was paid 1000 dollars to do so), extracting information in order to do this job by beating the woman and torturing Tuco, or acting in self defence by killing those before they killed him. Tuco led Blondie on a sadistic forced march, and only saved him because Blondie had information. The crimes he was charged with included many counts of rape, murder and theft, including stealing all the gun shop owner's money. I just don't think Blondie or Angel Eyes would sink to the level of doing all those things.

I can watch it over and over again :) A True classic :) A cry of nostalgia remembering my childhood, back in 1976, when I used to just lay on the floor and play with little plastic cowboys figures and plastic guns. The "wild wild west" was made out of Corn Flakes boxes.

I could tell he wanted to just let loose 😁 well done young man ! I bet it was hard to not just turn it free and make the scene but you turned it up just enough to keep it the way you he’d to keep it.
