    The fault in the design is that the pumping mechanism is connected to the splitting mechanism. If they could isolate the ratchet arm from the splitter, it would work much better.

    I think he means that if they designed it better the log wouldn't mvoe up and down with the foot pump and the log wouldn't fall off.

    I'm always on the lookout for firewood tools that work well that are easy to operate. An axe and splitting maul are the two things I've used the most, but because of my situation, I have to consider other options... Taras, any suggestions for wheelchair bound folks?

    It should have some type of adjustable holders on the side of it to hold the logs in place. Overall cool gadget!

    You should try one of the hand powered hydraulic spliters....it has two handles you pump back and forth

    I work at a nice firewood pizza place, my boss said if I find a good alternative to the motorized splitter he'd order it, keep it up taras otherwise I'm stuck with a hatchet

    That seems like a really cool concept for people who arent really able to wield an axe, Whether from a handicap or arthritis or whatever else.. Sure this isn't the greatest splitter ever made...but it's small and seems safe.

    Its good as a temporary solution if you like to split wood but have some kind of injury that hinders the mobility of your arms, shoulders, wrists, or hands.

    Need to widen the step for foot, so you can use both feet while in your rocking chair. You have the grand kids load up the kindling size pieces. For making kindling to start the fire. If it was twice that size it would bust that locust log.

    The black log holder need notches or something to be sitting in, because when he pumps, it just bounces around so the log falls off easily.

    This would work far better if the top part didnt rely on gravity. Throw a bungie cord on there and it will probably help with the logs falling out and allow you to pump faster.
