I have the same machine (different brand), and I chew through dozens to hundreds of medium to large ash logs every year with mine.

As long as there aren’t knots in it oak splits fairly well. It can split larger pieces as well if you flip it over after splitting the first side. If you do hit a knot you can hit it repeatedly and it will usually push through. Make sure to pieces are 3” or so shorter than the opening so the ram gets some momentum.

I prefer a good axe for small to medium size logs and oil pressurerised splitter for large and heavy logs.

It will do harder woods, but sometimes you have to engage the lever more than once to do it. Usually, once the initial split in the wood develops, the following lever pull will push the rest of the wood through.

That lil thing is fast

You cut your wood before it gets seasoned. You Rick it and let it age for a year. Keep dry.
