Nice, you can also put the glass jar with the lid loosely attached inside the canister and extract and this will also vacuum seal it, no need to put a hole in the lid.

I just found 3 canisters yesterday. Small 1.99 medium 2.99 large 3.99 ordered a break bleeder as well. I think I'm all set.

Could you please elaborate? I didn't really understand :( how would I put the lid inside the cannister and extract with the foodsaver hose/accesory? How could this method work with 2 piece lids?

No. Vacuum sealing is best for dry goods - beans, rice, flour etc.
