Shawn not only your house is incredibly well made but also your garden is so natural and well thought out in terms of vegetables. You are an inspiration to many.
Kelly is a real ham, it's like she knows what the camera is.
Thank you. I have 12 fruit trees and lost everything to frost except 7 pears. God Bless and stay safe.
With you in mind, I began my little urban garden last spring. Cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers. Fighting against the local rabbits and squirrels, but still managing a good harvest. Looking to expand next year! Keep posting, we'll keep watching. Cheers.

Yes! There’s always that one that tries to steal the spotlight. 😁 When she appears I lose focus and have to rewind to hear what Shawn was saying! I’m have the focus of a squirrel.

I got a cherry plum that is super vigorous. Which can be used as root stock for cherries or plums. Found my root stock seeds grow better than trying to dig up root stocks.
Great job, you've grown a lot of vegetables in your garden. You save a lot of money. 😊
Greetings Shawn: I want to share with you and the other gardeners a tip I just learned from a lady in Iowa. Her frost date starts September 1, so now she is cutting off tomato vines that are producing flowers. She said there is no way that tomatoes will grow sufficiently before the first frost hits. She cuts the stem down to just above any tomatoes. She said that this gives the plant the energy to ripen the remaining tomatoes, and gives the plants more light, I will do that with my tomatoes this year so there aren't any green ones at the end of the season.
Beautiful garden. The outdoor kitchen is looking awesome. Love the stove. Great progress. Thanks for sharing. Hugs for Cali. 🐕
Food for the new outdoor kitchen Shawn 🐕
That garden garden is the heart of the cabin!!! . It all looks so lush and healthy..
I’ve been a professional carpenter, cabinetmaker, and millwright for 47 years, but gardening is a true passion for me. Great video!
I I absolutely love it when she has to sit on you and steel the show !!!!! Se is so part human !!!! Now I can't believe how fast this summer has gone by, I'm in New Hampshire USA and the trees are already turning,,, can't wait for the news episode !!!! Awesome job on the garden and the outside kitchen !!!!!!!

The leaves started turning here in mid September, central Wisconsin, but they are not as vibrant as usual. Guess we will see what happens. I agree, SOOOOO weird!!!
Great job , it will produce more as time goes on. Callie is such a beautiful soul
Oh just heard you mention garlic, great! I have a friend here in South Eastern Oklahoma that grows a lemon tree, he puts it out during the summer and puts it in during the winter months, its been making every year for 5 or 6 years now, he just has it in a large pot! Anyway thanks so much for sharing!
Shawn Your garden did so much better than mine enjoy.
Nice to see your garden rewarding you, you certainly deserve it. Also, I noticed Cali has beautiful white teeth. With all you do, nothing important slips through the cracks. I've got a Black Lab, very similar behavior, but a totally different look. Be sure to thank Cali for allowing you to be in her videos!
I collected some crab apple seeds from Northern Lake Michigan to grow as root stocks. You can graph a pear to service berries. Got some rowans from mountain ash too. The rose hips are huge this year. I like pole beans they produce till first frost which looks to becoming early this year in the U.P. Strawberries and asparagus do well together. Our blueberries did well. Been working on growing native fruits and berries this year. I want to plant some hazelnuts. Been using ferns for our hugelkultur beds. We plant our garlic and onions where the ramps grow. Figure that's where they would like to grow.
That garden garden is the heart of the cabin!!! 😊
Lololo sometimes a pup just needs some lovin😊
A good year regardless of the political and atmospheric climates.. It's growing well on all cylinders n beds!!! Thanks for sharing your time n talents with us today ...C ya on the next video !!!! 👍🐺🧙♂️🤘
Brilliant gardening ! 🍁 Glad you explained sealing that floor preparation with low humidity...otherwise it was oddly placed in the video. If there is s story about the black bear I missed it.
I love watching the garden video’s….. learn so much.
Good Sunday Shawn & Cali🐕! Your garden looks amazing. 👍🌅🏞️🏡🌳🌲🍓🌶️🍅🌽🍆
Always great to see the progress of the garden and harvesting of the vegetables and fruits. Every year will bring new varieties and produce more quantity. Blessings to you and family Shawn.
Gardening is definitely a never ending experiment- always looking to improve or try someting new.

Always a pleasure to have a nice abundant harvest.
Thanks for filming and the explanation Shawn. 😁👍🏼
Everything looks amazing!!! An off-topic question: How do you safeguard your property and you in case of fire in the forest?
Glad to see that channel is back, thank you love hearing about the progress.
Shawn drone shot showing the homestead was awesome! Beautiful cabin. You really must feel good how it all came out. Cali still is the star! 🤣😃 👍👍👍👍
Calli needs her own channel.

Thank you Shawn, appreciate you, and Cali 🐾 Stay safe and take care my friends 🙏 🙂
How great to wake up to a Shawn James video with Cali on Sunday morning! 😅 Have really missed it. Happy the garden has produced well with Emily and your wife’s help and you’ll have enough calories for another year!! Blessings to you and family. a
I love you Shawn and the direction you're going in.
Great garden update Shawn. I'm looking at building a SIPS small greenhouse 8' X 12'to see if I can control the heat with less or no power. Also get deeper into the fall and early in the spring. Raspberry, Strawberry, cucumbers, Tomatoes and squash did well in 5b zone. A lot of work but a lot of fun and knowledge.
Eu acompanho a os seus vídeos desde o início não vejo a hora de ver essa cabana terminada amo cabana mais demorar muito pra postar um vídeo novo beijos eu sou do Brasil kk
It all looks so lush and healthy.
Nice video and thanks for showing us the garden and the crops.
I grew atomic grape tomatoes this year for the first time. They did incredibly well. I'm way down south in the Houston area. Yours look like they did well also.
Everything is looking great, Shawn. Our garden in Almagiun Highlands did awesome this year. Loads of potatoes, peas, indian corn is 12 ft tall, turnips, cucumbers, microgreens. Cant wait for next season! Our best addition from last year was the cat that takes down every pest including rabbits.
Beautiful garden! Children could learn so much from your channel! If I was a teacher I would be introducing your channel to them and have them plant a vegetable! You are so encouraging and inspiring ! Children at a young age would follow suit! If you published a book I would give my young men for Christmas! PS I wished I could turn the clock back with my young men! God bless you Shawn and your family! Thank you for inspiring me!
Will, miss you a lot when you are gone and look forward to you being back! Have a good time away! God bless you and your family!
Shawn, my whole family couldn't even eat the amount of food you grow in a season, looking at your garden and the amount of produce it would take us around three years if not more to eat most of them!!! Looking forward to seeing what happens next with your cabin and family. As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Our Idaho potato farmers plant winter wheat over the winter to be tilled under for nitrogen replacement for spring crops. Yes we get snow here too!
You can eat the leaves and the stalks of the pumpkins and squashes families. It has got good minerals. Rub the leaves if it is hairy. Then shred finely. Sauté with garlic ..prawns etc.. or add it into broth .. add eggs, carrots and tomatoes.. Or coconut milk broth. With meat or chicken and some chopped coriander and chillies. Can add. Nasturtiums flower too into the soup. Cali is as ever loving dog..❤. Btw potatoes maybe try plant in the bucket container.. easy to manage... 👍🙏
Hi Shawn. I hope everything is well. I always watch your KZread videos and i haven't seen one lately. Praying that you and your family are well, including our beautiful Cali, the queen if the forest! 😊
The comfrey is beautiful nice garden.
My dad used to use dry saw dust to keep the veggies fresh
I just the same thing to my backyard garden. It wasn't the best yeild for some items. Thank you for sharing cheers from Simcoe County Ontario Canada! 🍁🍁
Awesome.
Awesome garden! It's definitely a long term project.
Great looking garden love your videos so quite out in the forest
You have a beautiful garden and I might add, A beautiful dog!
You may be too far north for raising good peaches but RELIANCE DWARF and Fingerlakes SH (Super Hardy) Dwarf both survive winter down to 30 below F. Reliance ripens the second week of August and Fingerlakes SH about Sept 1 to help spread out the harvest. I had a good harvest of Reliance this summer and a poor harvest of Fingerlakes. I don't freeze or can so I give most away.
Mmm love potatoes and especially sweet potatoes! Garlic and onions, squash, okra, all kinds of beans, although you may not be able grow okra there or even like it. I didn't hear you say anything about Garlic, but I'm sure your harvesting it as well. It would really be nice if you had a couple of bee hives or is the weather too harsh for bee's? At any rate thanks so much for sharing I really enjoyed watching and learning!
Congratulations on a good harvest.
I have watched you from the beginning, and the great job you have done. Thank you for sharing your journey. From Alabama.
You’ve accomplished so much in such a short time!
Thanks for the garden tour great to see what you have grown in preparation for winter
, I love your garden looks lovely
Another great video. Maybe the best Cali episode yet.
Overall, you had a pretty good year with vegetables. Takes time for the soil to get right, looking forward to next year’s harvest.💯👍🏾😀💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Great production! It's a pleasure to watch your growing vegetables garden.
@Shawn James Thanks for everything you share with us, we’re all gonna need it soon! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Your garden is amazing and All these good vegetables that you be able to put in your root cellar for winter to enjoy you have been really blessed with this harvest this year. 😊 I have been processing Blackberrys and pears still not done with them.I got Beets ,onions, carrots to do all in good time Thanks for sharing your garden experience and Cali with us all
That all looks so great!! So productive!! You must be doing something more right than wrong! Thanks again for all your videos and information Shawn. I really enjoy and appreciate all your work there.
Shawn, I was missing this videos. Thank you for the update. I know you have been busting your back with the outside kitchen and the rest of the projects. Let's see what fall and winter is going to bring. Stay safe and healthy!!! Lots of love to Callie!!!
Beautiful Garden, Shawn!
Fico apaixonada com seus vídeos. Adoro a natureza. Parabéns pelo seu trabalho.
It is just great to here you tell us how everything has gone this summer in the garden
Amazing garden, and in the forest, I'm impressed! You are very lucky the critters don't eat everything! No squirrels or raccoons around?
Que lindo tudo verdinho! Saúde! Aquele abraço!
Shawn...Make sure you rotate the potatoes in the cellar, the old ones can produce deadly fumes that can kill people. Maybe research if you think i'm crazy.
Love your vegetable garden, nice t-tee shirt, brown looks nice on you.
Good morning, I have used some acorns in the past. How do you process, dry and use them? Your garden looks great. Here in Wisconsin we had long stretches of dry times. Gardens OK, but not like your. Thank you for all of your helpful info.
Respect you man. Every word you speak. I've enjoyed watching your videos for a long time. THIS video... your dogs appreance on camera set off my heart strings!!! Melted my sensitivity. Anyway, look forward to seeing more videos as always!
Plant ivan-tea.Moose is very respectful to feast on the tender leaves of this plant.
Sounds like a good variety of food. Awesome management! 🌿😎🇨🇦🐾 hi Callie!
Good looking garden.
Have been following you for a long time. Hope your family are doing well.
The garden looks great. Did you know that you can eat the sweet potato leaves as salad? It has been a cold and wet summer here in the UK so vegetables havent done well at all. Hopefully next year will be better.
Love your (and Callie’s) garden updates. Are you freeze drying your produce using solar at the cabin, or back at your town property? Do you also still forage to make wild berry and spruce tip jellies etc or have you had enough berries in your garden? Given time restraints to get the cabin ready for winter….
I enjoy watching your videos and I learn a lot from you! Thank you!
its been a long time since i ask you about your life happy to see you doin things through your vlog take care
I wish I can have garden like yours but I am living on the building top, with only small terrace and no soil at all!! can grow only pot crops.
I'm just starting my prepper journey and staring my garden!
As always great video! 😊
Great progress!
Such a different feel in the garden vs out in the woodlands.. a cornucopia for sure

Awesome garden!!
