Food industry should be held accountable like the tobacco industry was and was made to put warning labels on tobacco products. Consumers should be warned better and alerted about health consequences. Harmful effects from some foods may take longer to be noticed but general public may be taking great chance eating unhealthy foods (marketed as safe)

THIS PLEASE! If metabolic related bad health outcomes woke up tomorrow and were only doing as much damage to humanity as tobacco related bad health outcomes were doing at their peak (in the 1980s and 1990s in the USA)... people would go into shock. Imagine how free of intake the hospitals and doctor's offices would be... imagine how fewer the prescriptions would be at the pharmacies...... Oh... wait... fewer prescriptions at the pharmacies? We can't have that! Profits > ALL 😥😥

Back in mid 1980's when I was 26 I realized that SUGAR was making me feel depressed, anxious and sometimes even suicidal ! I started avoiding it and it was a 180 degree turn around! To this day I am off it ( although I do cheat during the Holidays a little haha)....and I FEEL awesome! Truly one of the worst things you can consume. I recently took it a step further in the last year or so and went Keto. It's working great! Thx for this video, amazing info!

As psychotherapist / health counselor/ nutritionist of 52 years, I am in strong agreement with these doctors! How my clients are eating is always a part of my therapy, but sadly clients often cling tenaciously to their alcohol, ultra processed food and sugar ! I am a strong believer in food as medicine, practice this in my own life and draw strength from wonderful doctors like Dr Hyman!

My current diagnosis list: Severe anxiety, severe OCD, moderate depression, ADHD & ASD. I have been vegan/vegetarian for 10 years with chronic IBS & Candida overgrowth. I've scrapped that! Been on Keto with meat, fish, eggs and tofu for the last 2.5 weeks and I cannot believe how much my mental health has improved. It's actually wild how different I've been, since getting passed the caffiene, sugar and carb cravings (still fighting sugar). I don't plan on staying keto forever, but definitely staying with whole foods and all foods.

I love your videos, very informative. I'd love to hear you speak about oxalates in the foods because a lot of healthy foods you're talking about are also high in oxalates like almonds, dark chocolate, some bean and pulses and expecially not good for metabolic issues where the kidneys are involved, thank you

Praise God there are finally doctors coming around to actually "taking care" of people instead of just following a "one size fits all" notebook. I started having seizures when I was 27. With no history of any of this in my family, they just decided to put me on medicines that my body kept rejecting. I lived with this crap and kept coming off the meds because of the side effects. I finally started taking P-5-P at 100mg twice a day and have zero stress seizures anymore. I also found that alcohol no longer has an addictive effect on me. I take Benfotiamine @ 300mg twice daily and I can finally sit still. My daughter has ADHD, and her son has Autism. These all seem to be related to the same factors as me being a highly sensitive person. I'm fighting high cholesterol levels and gallbladder symptoms. I've dumped all dairy and had my gut fair better along with my inflammation all over dropping drastically. I'm not done doing my own research in what will help with them all, but being off the junk foods I was raised on has helped tremendously. Now I just have to focus on getting the rest of my gut issues taken care of along with detoxing what already piled up in my liver and gallbladder. Thank you all for bringing all of this out in the open. I no longer feel like I'm dog-paddling alone just to stay alive and trying to get healthy.

Watch/listen to Dr. Hyman’s KZread video podcast episode with Dr. Lustig. He recounts 7 subcellular pathologies causing most chronic conditions/diseases;1) glycation2)insulin resistance3)mitochondrial dysfunction4)inflammation5)intestinal membrane instability6)methylation7)autophagy.Summary: lay off carbs(sucrose metabolism blocks ketones needed in the brain & indirectly contributes to insulin resistance) & employ intermittent fasting.Astrict carnivore diet may be the best short term(?) elimination diet.

Biomedical research engineer been preaching mental illness comes from diet for years but people would run to the pharmacist in the pharmaceutical companies for a cure instead. Got to feed yourself on a cellular level and think past the modern-day definition of food. I'm also the author of the 30-day water fast and the 60-day juice fast.

Very interesting podcast. I work in mental health and talk about food as medicine a lot. However in my experience with iron supplements that Iron supplements suck. You should be advocating for using cast iron pans for cooking.

Iron is too hard for the body to get rid of when it builds up. People are better off eating foods that are a good source of iron, like beef liver, chicken liver, or meats that are rich in it. If needed, methylcobalamin is the best route.

If you cook with cast iron skillets, using high heat, the iron from the pan gets into the food. Too much iron( of this form) is toxic to humans.

Adding a comment slighly unrelated.... Dr. Hyman or can anyone recommend a virtual, functional medicine provider that "thinks" like Dr. Hyman? I live in a smallish community and have struggled finding a provider that aligns with my health goals.

I remember in Kevin Trudeau’s older book, he has a chapter on how to locate & select non-establishment, non-allopathic, non-Rockerfellerian trained medical practitioners. I think the title is something like “ What the medical Establishment Doesn’t Want You to Know”. The book is still a good read/ resource, today.

breast milk vs formula....... there is a situation going on that is forcing women to use formula and its NOT talked about! It happened to me! once you have the child a nurse comes in all nice and sweet and tries her dammed'st to push birth control! "you dont want to risk getting pregnant again this soon" and I fell for it the first 2 children! I was a low income mother who indeed did not want more children to fast and unplanned! well guess what happens the moment you take the birth control! Your Milk DRIES UP!!!!!!!!!! They Never warn you that might happen!

Mental illness is mostly due to trauma of some sort. Most are in denial of their experiences. Saying it’s due to diet is just as dishonest as saying it’s due to chemical imbalance.
