I'm not a fan of the way survival games typically handle food and drink. So if this is something that you're considering, I'm hoping that it's not something that a player needs to spend a lot of time focusing on. I know a lot of people do enjoy that sort of thing, however, for me personally it has potential to take away from trying to enjoy other aspects of the game when you're busy trying to scavenge for resources in an otherwise mostly chill game. If that makes sense.

Tbh I agree with you. I strongly dislike huger/thirst bar mechanics. At the same time a huge amount of the feedback I get requests it -- and I also get that the idea of 'voyages' struggles when there's nothing to lose. I've dabbled with a few idea -- but nothing is 100% firm yet. My current though is to approach similar to Subnautica, in which players can choose whether they want to engage in survival elements when starting. Nothing implemented yet though.

Thank you. You have control over your cargo -- but not to the degree of something like Sailwind. There are areas of the ship dedicated to cargo (the pallets on the sole), and you can place cargo in that area with a grid snap system. Similar idea to how the cargo is placed in ships in Star Citizen, but you can place the crates individually. This video covers it in more detail: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWeXyKaKo8jXYJs.html

Whilst I get the need for sustenance, please don't implement it á la Sailwind. That mechanic bugs the living hell outa me. I think an 'inferred' system would be better. i.e. You have the supplies on board, which go down daily, but without you needing to go through the actions of eating or drinking.

This is essentially the system I'm working with currently. I really dislike hunger/thirst bars -- but it's been difficult to come up with something that many/most are ok with. Right now you require supplies, and they are consumed daily -- but food/drink don't require any interaction on the player's part. Some provisions do require player input, i.e. repair items, but I intend for the costs to be pretty low. Also would like to allow the player to disable resource consumption entirely.

Is this gonna be another sailwind because it looks a bit like it.This looks much better visually but Im guessing this is also made with Unity. The worst gaming engine to exist on pc and not an engine to use if one is after realistic physics. I have sailwind which can be fun but its also the most frustrating game I have played but has very little if any goals other than to buy a bigger boat, no real content and fizzles out quite quickly. I will keep an eye on this game but if it has the same gamestyle then I wont even bother with it. These kind of games can be very good games but no developer has yet to nail how good these games could be. These type of sailing games need to have the ancient navigating tools. This is something Sailwind actually did pretty well. It would be even better if you could chart your travels in game itself though. Think of having sid meiers pirates but on this kind of sailing scale where you go to different ports, trade goods, letters of marque and ranking, treasure hunting and all that had to offer which I loved that game. I know this isnt a pirate game but something along those lines. And no, Sea of Thieves dont cut it for anyone pointing in that direction. That game is just an mmo clusterfck of a mess which is only designed for multiplayer battles. I was really keen on Sailaway but that game is no better. Its more about racing and even though its meant to be real world travels it lacks content because the game is all focused on racing other ppl. Again another failure in sailing games. The best most indepth game I have played is Uncharted waters online which is a fantastic game but the economy in that is so broken created by the players its just pointless.
