Follow the orange triangle | New Zealand’s Te Araroa Trail
Welcome back for Chapter Two of this wildly dramatised portrayal of what it's like thru hiking Te Araroa; the 3,000km trail of Aotearoa, New Zealand.

idk if anyone else feels this, but having had watched the PCT series a few times now, I've come to realize how much the dynamic and constant scenery/landscape changes added/affectted the storytelling in that series. It's interesting to watch the TA series and have the narrative come more from Elina that the landscape. I think it's a much richer, complex narrative than just earthp0rn.

Yeah, same realization, I think that I do prefer the PCT fast pace, high energy style more personally, but its been very nice to see this different style as well

Who’s hyped for this? We are all just wishing this video would be at least an hour long!! 🙏🙏🙏
I watch Elina’s videos as a reminder to be in the moment when I’m on a long walk, to treat each day as a forest bath, and to wait in expectant silence for the lessons that come my way. Today’s lesson came with the quote , “ We pack for what we’re afraid of. “ I knew what that meant for me immediately . Can’t wait to let go of that fear.
Your idiosyncratic narrative filming style gives this trek a distinctive and endearing charm. Somehow you get the experience to slip linear time and enter heart time. In other words, the presence of the eternal Here and Now. Love it. Elina! Walk on, Kiwi Lady! Love from Canada.
I almost cried watching your video. New Zealand will always have a special place in my heart, especially Kerikeri where I met my now husband 6 years ago. I cherish all these memories forever. Could you add the name of the location next to the km?? Can't wait to see the following chapters!
When you pronounce The specific NZ words I get goose boomps! I love everything in this film, The interviews seem so raw, so natural, I feel like I am The one talking with these People. Sending lots of love, Elina! I wish I could meet with you one Day and hike The Via Transilvanica together!

I'm definitely no expert in the pronunciation of Te Reo, but I'm hoping to give some justice to this beautiful language ❤️

@@ElinaOsborne this is so wonderful. I sense a real deepening of your narration skills since the PCT. It's a joy to see, sense.
Well, that was nothing short of amazing. “It is a dangerous business going out your door The sweeping heights And smiling eyes The golden for just an hour But with trail to step And open heart Why ever stay inside” *runs to tattoo shop and gets tattooed on arm immediately*
You are such a brilliant storyteller Elina. I was first captivated by your PCT video and I see that it was not an accident. Thank you for taking these hikes and for your willingness to share your heart and soul through your art. Please keep this going. You are so very important. ❤️
Gahhhh, I got so excited and I have to wait 3 more hours lol
waiting in the PCT permit line currently and waiting on this at the same time lmao
Thanks for sharing this. I did an exchange student program more than 20 years ago in NZ. I lived in Gisborne with a lovely family for one year, it has changed my life and was the making of me. To this day I have always kept in touch with my NZ family and friends and I try to visit as often as I can. NZ has a special place in my heart. I have done a few long distances human powered trip (walking, cycling, kayaking) so far since I have learned about the TA I dream about it. I would love to reconnect with NZ by walking it. Now as a 40 something working mum I just need to find a way to carve out the time to do it someday. Your videos inspire me cheers.
Elina, you are such a talented storyteller. Thank you so much.
Me: Having a really, really bad morning. Elina: New Video out Today! Me: Mood 📈📈📈
Elina, you have a way of putting me on the hike with you. A very rugged and beautiful trail. But the people are the most fascinating. Thank you for sharing your hiking adventure. Blessings.
Elina, what I love is how “trepidatious” (possibly not a word) you are at the beginning of each stage of these endeavors, how you end up just throwing yourself into the breach, and how fabulous the final result. Please never stop.🦋
Ugh, this video made me feel so much! It's like an emotional roller coaster in the best way, thank you for this masterpiece! I'm an Aussie stuck at home waiting for the borders to open so I can embark on TA this season (NOBO perhaps). I cannot wait to meet the wonderful people along the way! Excited for your next video :)
I can't watch these videos immediately when I come out because I have to get in the right emotional headspace, I love our beautiful country so much and you tell the story of our trail so well. I keep finding myself tearing up, especially with your shots near the end of the beach leading towards Whangarei heads. Looking forward to the next one!
This. This makes my heart explodes. Aoteroa has a big part of my heart and it’s been calling me back… I take this series as a sign to go back and do the Te Araroa when borders opens. Thank you for making theses, I find myself wishing it’s not over yet and it could be 1hour. ❤️

The day walking into Puketi Camp was an absolute beauty. I knew at the end of it that it was A Favourite Day. Because there would be more, but it will always live on as my First Favourite Day. Hearing you have a similar experience, coming to terms with the approach to this big walk, and finding the joy, fills my heart.
Sometimes life really gives you a sign. Either that, or those algorithms have become *that* good. I've been thinking about doing Te Araroa myself, too, in the not so distant future. Or, well, who am I kidding, I've actually started making plans and thinking in terms of "when" and "how", not "if". And then this series is what youtube presented me with. I've never done a thru-hike or anything else than a bit of camping on a fairly well maintained campsite, but this video series made me want to walk the whole lenght of Aotearoa even more than I did before. So inspiring! (And no, those blisters didn't turn me off, lol.)
Ok we love you! Your videos are a mediation and a joy ❤️ from 🇮🇱
THIS is poetry! Makes me so hyped to finish school this summer and be able to go on my own adventure. Im so happy youve decided to document this and put real soul into the videos, videos that are making an inpact. Looking forward to the next one!!
These are the best Te Araroa videos I've seen Elina, beautifully done. I love watching. I walked Te Araroa a few years back and I recall all the places you are walking while I'm watching. I'm sort of laughing when you talk about blisters and running out of water etc etc. Because I remember those times fondly when I was in that predictament. Love your videos Elina. Well done. Thank you for sharing your journey.
"If they themselves weren't health, how could they protect others?" Such a beautiful question and since I am currently on the Covid mend a very well timed one as I try and remember to let myself fully recover before throwing myself back into work.
Such a beautiful country. Very impressed you can hike that far and still take the time to capture such amazing footage!
elina, your videos never fail to bring me to tears. they always make me crave that sense of adventure and long for my next journey. thank you
I love the humanity you’re bringing to the trail. Beautiful work and seems like such an incredible experience you had
Really appreciate the work you put into this Elina. Thanks for sharing.
This is what a long thru hike is about; the landscapes but also the meetings and talks with the people on trail. Really love the series so far and it makes me want to come over and hike TA even more! Thank you so much for making these wonderful videos!
Love these, you are so good! I have never heard a benefit to road walking, but you nailed it!
What an amazing athmosphere. It's getting me every time and afterwards i'm confused of sitting in my room, instead of walking thru the woods.
I cannot wait to do something like this. Experience something as challenging as this for myself. You inspire me so much Elina !
These films are SO good Elina - the best I've seen on the TA. I love the soundtrack, the interviews and the 'sitting' in the land ...because these moments are a big part of why I travel. I plan to do TA when I can afford to do it. I started the thought a year ago and hope I can complete the journey to the start at Cape Reinga. I know it may not be for 4/5 years. I don't know why I want to do the TA. I do know why I want to.
So worth the wait! Thank you for telling your story so beautifully and for inspiring us all!
Jacinda needs to get you on the payroll, absolutely amazing. I love the deep green of the forest along with the blues of the beach walks.
Master of the b-roll. Outstanding story and story telling.
I always constantly shed tears everytime i watch your videos. Your narration and and filming style document the world in such a breathtaking way that i can't help but feel emotional and moved. Every time I feel down, I watch your videos to pick myself back. Thank you for all that you've done!!
Magic, pure magic.
Best TA video's yet, Thanks Elina
Love as always. Thank you for your art, your vulnerability, your spirit
What incredible cinematography coupled with an amazing soundtrack. I completed the Via de la Plata instead of the Te Areroa because of covid. You are showing me what I missed. Maybe next year.
I'm really enjoying this series, more so than the PCT one. It's nice to see trails that are less popular, proving you can find beauty, wonder and contemplation anywhere. Thanks Elina!
This chapter was special. I really did enjoy it. Thank you so much and I look forward for the next one. 🤙🏽
For some reason I was procrastinating on watching the first episode and just threw this one on for 5 minutes. OH MY GOD ITS SO BEAUTIFUL!!
Beautiful people, beautiful scenery, beautiful messages - your videos always inspire me to step outside more. Thank you Elina 🙏
Another excellent chapter Elina, you are a true storytelling artist.
Just wow. I have only just come across your channel. It's so great seeing a kiwi display and talk about this country so eloquently, and the respect you show to culture and country.
Thank you Elina. Great episode
This is a next level hiking video. So great. So beautiful. Not just the visuals.
You are such a talented artist. These films look amazing! Thank you for sharing your passion with us.
thanks for sharing your adventure, something about it makes me feel relaxed watching you trek and meet new people. I think i long for that myself and hopefully sooner rather than later i do the same. cant wait for chapter 3
Making me want to do this trail soooo badly! Such great storytelling, well done 👏
You are a fantastic filmmaker and a wonderful storyteller! I just hiked the AT this past season and to think of how challenging the walk alone was… You’re a badass hiker AND you’re also working to document tell amazing stories along the way. Super impressive!
Thank you Elina. Love your story telling capabilities.
I really like at the beginning of this chapter your comment on expectations of the trail, and how the reality differs from what you expected it to be. I have found that on each long hike I have been on. You go in expecting it to be similar to your previous adventure, and looking for similar experiences, but always end up getting something that is different, but ends up being exactly what you are need.
These videos are _really_ good! Looking forward to watching more from you. 🙌🏻
Great and really inspirational storytelling. I really like the easy style you have with your filming, it allows the characters and landscape to really come out.
I think your's, for me, is the best through hike narrative I've ever seen. It's not the funniest, it doesn't have the best photography, doesn't include the most info for aspiring backpackers, but has it's own way of being the BEST to give a person an understanding of trail LIFE. Thank you!
You truly capture the magic in every moment. One day I'll walk Te Araroa and enjoy this magic too.
Thank you for sharing this adventure and these encounters with us
Quality content! You can see you've put a lot of effort and time into it! Thanks for making these video's!
Elina, your journey, stories are inspiring. Sending good vibes and thoughts from Sri Lanka. Keep doing what you are doing. You are changing peoples' minds about lifestyle, their approach towards nature, and many more.
Not sure why I waited so long to watch this one - this is the most people oriented hiking vid I've seen. It's wonderful. And every Kiwi I've ever met was nothing short of a pure delight. You really are a nice bunch of folks - that makes this trail in 2021 even more blissful. thanks
YESSSSS!!! The excitement is real and I love it :D
Wow wow wow. I enjoy your realness, ability to tell a story and the scenery of our beautiful NZ
Hi from Chicagoland... Just wanted to say your shooting/editing style is inspirational!... and great stories. Nice!... THX!
This was absolutely brilliant. Great fun to watch! Am binging. Have subbed.
Aw, that invitation on the end brought me to tears. What a sweetheart with a sweat heart. ♥
I'm enjoying these so much. What a journey! Hello from Vancouver Island, Canada!
Loved it. These are great. I just got off the PCT and this is like therapy to just sit and watch
Soundtrack! And those long pauses after some meaningfull thoughts .. welcome to next level ;)
Zen for my soul. Elina, you're great!
Love this so much! You are amazing!
Love the color throughout this chapter!!
Absolutely love your story telling. You are very talented!
You are a GREAT cinematographer! When you find THE story and the means to tell it, no one will beat you. Hang on!
great. now I have to wait for each new chapter to come out. guess I will go binge watch your PCT one again for the 100th time until the rest come out haha. thanks for sharing. you're living my dream! I can't physically do this because of chronic illness. but hopefully one day I will be well enough to do a thru hike!
Oooo the music after the flat white! CAFFIEN HIGH LFG!!!
New Zealand is on my bucket list - would love to take this journey - great video, cheers from Australia.
Love this series
I'm really enjoying your journey and your story!
Gracias Elina💙
loving this journey... I love the far North it's a perfect place.
Oh my god this is such a perfect video thank you for sharing!
I love this series and your style it’s almost a modern Wes Anderson film series! Ake Ake Kia Kaha!!
Sore feet. Red shoulders. Shit weather. 10 miles to go. Wet sleeping bag. No more food. Home sickness. That dodgy left knee. We've gone the wrong way. Boots are soaked. I can't go on. All the toughest moments on the trail make the good moments better....

Ah yes! the type 3 sort of fun
Totally taken by this video. Been a fan of forest bathing, shinrin-yoku, for a few years now but was kind of conflicted about what was going on. Though I know that it truly works. . A couple of weeks ago read, _The Heartbeat of Trees; Embracing our ancient bond with forests and nature_, by the German author Peter Wohllenben--yet another nemophilist--just like you. He mentioned Forest Bathing quite a few times, and quoted Dr Qing Li of the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo, he wrote the book after all! And and now your video. Oops, pardon me, your STUNNING video. It is a keeper for sure. Thanks for all that went into making it and then posting it to KZread. I am getting so much out of it. For an old coot such as myself, that is a high compliment In my urban setting here LA, not always easy to get into the woods, but I sure can get next to the woods--each and every day.
Awww what a wonderfully video. Sexy intro, Great coloring & music choice. And I love that documentary taste. Looking forward to chapter 3. Cheers from Germany
Damn, youre a good storyteller!!! Can't wait for more
Thanks, Elina
As I said in her Chap 1 video: thank you for yelling and living experiences that some of us might never do in our lifetime, after watching the PCT doc and other videos I would like to say that miss Osborne is the like the best friend I have never met. FYI Barbara is my favorite
What an adventure!!!🤠
Great episode again. Quite different hike as the pct but i love it.
Your video is awesome ! from Taiwan ❤
It seems we’ve chosen the same tune for the video intro 🤓 I think it’s going to be a popular one 👌🏼😃 great video ❤️
wow thats all i have to say, love it !!!!!
Its honestly crazy to me just seeing all the different kinds of plants and trees.
A video to savor!
This is so good…
Beautiful interviews
