Her take on doing the PCT was the best hiking film/documentary I've watched on KZread...hands down

Seen her video when i was randomly searching the internet for a solution to stop me from breaking down. Her videos just started coming out and it hooked me. While the PCT is the overall goal, i did 6 shorter LD through hikes since then. This documentary just sold me.

Loved her stuff! Traveling Panda's stuff is great too.
I loved how Elina made the PCT series not just about her... but about others.
Thanks for introducing us to Elina. Looking forward to seeing her videos.
Just listening to her journal entry and I could easily read novels written by Elina. Her voice is so unique, the way she tells stories is just captivating.
Great Interview! Thanks for hosting... Love her stuff!
.. Completely enjoyed following Elina's PCT hike .. Loved her style of video and production ... Definitely tune in on all she shares of hiking and adventures .. This is what podcasts should be ...
Funny, her videos have never come up for me when searching for PCT videos so thank you SO much for introducing her to me!
Elina on the pod! This is awesome!
I enjoyed this interview. Have subscribed to Elina’s channel
Thank you for this video. Subscribed.
Keep the end of podcast story! It is one of the best times of the show!! While there are stories throughout, it is a staple to have someone pick one thing that they want to share and see the things that come out of it.
It is the People is one of the best PCT through hiking experience videos ever made.
Elina is a fantastic filmmaker. Love her hiking videos.
Elina is a gifted film maker and as a fellow Kiwi I'm so proud of her. She's a wonderful person. ❤😊🌿🙆🏻♀️👍🏾

Tip Tap's the greatest! Always interesting, Kyle.
You should interview the Wander Women about their Solvena hike if you want an overseas on. More older hikers are doing overseas. The Hiking Rev is finishing up the Ireland Way this Year and Mary Davidson who just finished the American Discovery Trail in her 80s. Please think about older hikers she wrote The Old Lady and the Trail. Enjoy both the podcast and your KZread content.!

I agree-so many videos on KZread, all the podcasts, it's all 20 and 30-something aged people. Even her "It's the People" photo shows ONLY young people. There are us older hikers out there and we are changing our lives, also, and have insight on life, love, experiences and struggles. I wonder if there are ANY older people in Elina's playlist on the PCT? I love her film storytelling style, but sometimes, there is a bit of the entitled life in the younger audience/filmmaker when really, they are PRIVILEDGED to have the time off/money and lack of responsibilities to get to hike a trail that takes 5-6 months. Every time I thought it was too difficult and I was exhausted at the end of the day, I had to remind myself that any difficulty in the outdoors was better than being in an office working a soul-sucking job.
We met her and the "group of 12" at Chinook Pass. They were a great group of people, lots of fun, and her documentary is one of the best PCT vids ever
Elina, I have watched your PCT hike video at least 5 times. You did such and AWESOME job with your storytelling. Please do the AT and do the same thing. ❤
I've watched several excellent PCT thru hikes on KZread. I still believe Elina's is the best.
An extrovert needs to be around people often, and the experience energizes them, they can get in a funk when alone for too long..An introverts energy gets depleted in large groups of people and needs alone time to energize, they can entertain themselves and are almost never lonely..That is how you determine which you are...Most people know which they are when they hear a proper definition..

The Atlantic Journal did an article several decades ago called "How to Care for your Introvert" which nails the differences between intro and extro "verts". It's quite hilarious and became very popular, so you'll have to try a little harder to find it. I forgot the author's name.

That's a good explanation of the difference between an extrovert and an introvert. You can be an outwardly social introvert and quite chatty but if you need quiet time to recharge you're probably an introvert. If you need to be around people to recharge you're probably an extrovert even if you're fairly quiet in a group.
One of the best episodes! Look forward to seeing the Haduke documentary.

I laughed when you started talking about extravert versus introvert. I am an introvert, mostly, but almost everyone thinks I’m an extrovert, because I am “outgoing”, passionate, hyper, and totally comfortable with public speaking. Although some people think they are an introvert but really they have some level of social anxiety. You can prefer something but it doesn’t bother you or you can be uncomfortable therefore you “don’t like it” but if you were comfortable, you would like it. I guess it’s a deeper insight into if you know why or why not you like something. Here’s one idea of how to tell. If you generally prefer to be alone (or group of two or less), even if you’re comfortable around people, you’re an introvert. Whereas, if you’re fine, being alone, but you’d rather be hanging out with friends, you are an extrovert. And Like everything in life, this is on a scale. Some people are ambiverts (in the middle). I’m actually probably ambivert toward the introvert side. If you are uncomfortable around people, that is shy or anxiety in some form and totally fixable if you want. Not that you have to. It’s totally OK if you want to be shy. Just know that shyness does not equal being an introvert. Similarly not every extravert likes to be in the public limelight. I have come across people who are shy and have social anxiety, but they are extroverts. And they don’t find relationships and life very rewarding until they deal with that anxiety because by nature they want to be around people. Hopefully that makes some sense.

Another way to determine it is to ask yourself, do you feel energized from spending alone or with groups.
I still "watch" her series from time to time just as a relaxing, background series.
I live in Utah , never heard of that trail. I’ll have to check it out. Thank you
The title😂🤣 Love this pod….
time to hike international Kyle 💫
Very informative interview.
I didn’t expect to like Utah, and I loved it!
Kyle, you need to get out into the world more. 😉 @ElinaOsborne, I followed all your PCT and TA videos. I had already watched Constantine hike the Hayduke on YT, so I already knew how crazy it would be when you said you were doing it! I'd like to walk the Nakasendō 中山道 (aka Kisokaidō) in Japan, but it seems there are NO English guides!
Shot Elina, enjoyed hearing more about your back story. Love your videos.
I’ll subscribe to ur podcast man :)
Great episode have started wat hi g her pct thru hike now, I will say I enjoy your podcast more than most of your KZread co te g but I do still wat.......I do find value in both
You guys should check how many ultralight backpacking and gear are made in Japan.
Ambivert = combination of both introvert and extrovert. ❤ I have traditionally been more of an extrovert, though now as I grow older (late 60s and still tramping too), I'm more of an ambivert. I'm also a fan of both of you. Great interview! Both please keep up your great content. 😊

Greetings Elina, from Aotearoa New Zealand. Re pronunciation to help those who don't come from NZ. 'Te Araroa'. Hope that helps? Great interview Kyle.
I’m an “outgoing introvert”. You can handle social situations well, but you have to be alone to recharge your battery.
Never take out the end of podcast story!!!
Great episode! I watched all her PCT videos, and they were so good! I think I may even watch the whole series again. I was waiting for you to ask her about the AT and if she has considered doing that trail. I guess I can surmise by her not bringing it up that she has little interest in it. I wonder why? So much culture and community on the AT. I would think she would like that??? Did you all talk about that off camera?

When I hiked the AT, I met only two people who had done the PCT previously. When I hiked the PCT, it seemed as if 1 out of 4 people had already done the AT. The reason is obvious to me. The AT is 90% work, 10% views. The PCT is 10% work, 90% views. It's really difficult to go from sweeping grand landscape views all day every day to just trees all day every day, with more climbing to boot.

@@brianmo18010% work??? Who the hell came up with that figure?! The PCT is by no means easy. If it was, you'd have a lot greater percentage of people finishing and A LOT LESS having to end their hike due to stress injuries (myself included) I've considered doing the AT in the future because there's abundant water and shorter food carries = lighter load.
Nice work. Also, it's ok to say you have Covid

Nothing at all
Kyle, I totally relate. I get anxious when my B roll is in the wrong order. Lol I really am about a chronologically experience. Where I feel like it aligns OK with me is when it’s obvious. For example, KZreadrs will say yesterday I did YZ and here’s the video. And then I’ll make like different commentaries throughout that video but it’s very clear that they’re kind of bouncing around to tell the story. I don’t know I’m a bit of a purist. Although I’ve don Ben, part of video projects that were all scripted based and so that chronological piece doesn’t matter at all then.

I have always thought it would be interesting to see Elina on the AT but I think her personality would not be in tune with the specific social aspects of the AT. This is what makes the hiking community so unique though. Everyone is different but all are respected and accepted!

Stop awkwardly gushing over her. Be more prepared...on all eps you're gonna air (ie: know how to pronounce stufff before diving right in). LOVE your show and i'm too pedantic abut the dialogue. I;m a writer and i cringe at lots of stuff.
Wish she’s bit more articulate.
