In defense of the scene, he was drunk as hell. Drunk people really don't give a sh*t about getting wet.

It's much more dramatic though if he gets his point across during a downpour.

I love Demi Moore’s character in this movie, she’s perfect for the role and I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing it other than her.

Glad they didn't try to shoehorn a love scene between Demi and Cruise.

The framing of the scene in the rain is used pretty commonly for romance plots, so

That would have spoiled this masterpiece.
I love how Danny is drunk, Sam is stone cold sober, and yet they decide to have Danny get behind the wheel and drive with Sam riding shotgun to pick up Joanne.
And that’s why I don’t drink every time I have a bad day.
Poor sam having to work with these two!
Tom Cruise's gaze from the 6:00 mark on was very convincing. Genuine.
Tom cruise drunken rant. You can’t discuss a case if your drunk off of Alcohol. 🥃

The entire ending to this plot hinges on Jessup just copping to ordering the code red and because they didn't know a better way to end it. That's what happens. Pretty silly xD

That's one way of looking at it. The other is, that they just decided to kamikaze by pressuring him on the stand knowing there was a big chance he would crack on the basis of his arrogance, which had always been abundantly clear throughout the film. It's not that much of an unreasonable chance to take.
So heres the thing. At this point hes basically already won the case for Downey. He was definitely given an order to do the code red, doesnt matter if it was from Kendrick or Dawson. His superior ordered him to do it. Its the same defense hed already been using.
Driving drunk eh tom?

Simp.
And he _still_ can't act.
What was the purpose of the LCDR JoAnne Galloway character? No romantic interest. She made critical mistakes in court. She edged Kaffee on to challenge Jessup in court even though it was Kaffee not her who would suffer the consequences if Jessup didn't admit he ordered the "Code Red." Her character was useless and actually made things worse.

I love how Weinberg basically said to Kaffee "You're a better trial lawyer than your Dad." His only experience had been a bunch of plea bargains. This is the only case he's ever tried and most of it was a disaster until Jessep was stupid enough to admit he ordered the Code Red. Let's face it. If Jessep had just said "No I didn't order The Code Red" they would have lost the case.

Galloway was there for one reason and one reason only. I'll let you guess actually. But here's a hint: it is a body part that rhymes with bits.

Galloway's character was pivotal as she was the one that pushed Kaffee to take this case to trial and not plea bargin it down. Was Demi's Moore's performance as Galloway as strong or memorable as the other characters? Probably not.

She convinced Kaffee to subpoena Jessup and capitalize on his ego during examination to get a confession. Did you not watch the movie?
