I would’ve been pissed to have seats to this game, and then have to watch it through the fog.

I agree. I was pissed watching it on TV. Couldn't see anything. Even the announcers couldn't see in order to at least announce the game. Didn't know what was going on. I remember just looking at a gray, fogged out television screen in the second half. LOL.

Just the opposite. I was there, it was glorious. Fans were so into it being unique and crazy. Add too it, it was New Year's Eve day, crowd was having a great time.
It's a legendary game, some loved it and others hated it but either way it's legendary!!
Incredible quality! Excellent upload!
I couldn’t imagine being an Eagles fan and watching this game, especially if you went to soldier field 😭😭
Great upload!!! It's so crazy to hear Berman with that high pitched voice and to see a young Tom Jackson. I have no clue who the other guy is.....I was only 10 when this game was played haha. Thanks for putting this out there. Brings back some great memories.

The third "guy" is Pete Axthelm. He was NBC's Jimmy "The Greek" in the early 1980s. Please tell me you know who Jimmy "The Greek" is. Anyway, Axthelm would give lines and predictions on NBC's NFL pregame show. He was fired? by NBC and landed at ESPN and was at ESPN until he died in 1991, at 47.

As a lifelong Eagles fan with a lot of hope with this 88 team..."watching" this game on TV - which was clearly impossible...talk about anger inducing and frustrating!! (The local news reported after this game about 45min later...by then the fog was 99% gone. I just shook my head!) I still have this game on VHS.

It was New Years Eve and I got so drunk. I was so disgusted by this game I erased my copy of the game. It was the first Eagles playoff game since I had bought a VCR about 2 years earlier. I wish I had taped all of those Eagles games in 87 - 88. I've managed to find all of them with other "tape traders" over the years except the 88 Oilers at Eagles game.
If that was today..the game would've been delayed. In my opinion, it should've been being that it was a playoff game but it was a much different time back then. There was no way they were gonna postpone it. Eagles squandered red-zone opportunities before the fog in the first half.

TV would insist on the game being delayed. They would put pressure on the NFL that the audience couldn't see the game. If the Bengals/Seahawks game was at 12:30 instead of this one the fog would have been gone from the field before kickoff in Chicago, They don't have that concern now because the divisional playoffs (at least on Saturdays) start late in the afternoon and at 8 pm est..
Where did you unearth this?
But was Buddy pleased or not?
I wish I could have been there for that
thanks
Do you have yanni in celebration of man the full version
Wish you had the seahawks bengals highlight section. I imagine Berman and Co. debated about the fake injuries Seattle pulled on Bengals to slow the no huddle
How did you get a master copy of this?
Buddy, not pleased
Do you have the Bengals/Seahawks game?

@@SirMixALotRareMusic do you have the 1987 AFC Championship game highlights from nfl primetime
Pete Axthelm died a few years later of liver failure. Wikipedia said he was 47 years old. Damn he looked like he’s in his 60s here.

Wow, 47 years old!?!? I guess he just didn't age well.
For those who are old enough... should this game have been postponed one day to New Years Day Monday Night?

This game was played on a Saturday. The NFL had playoff games the following day on Sunday and then the College Bowls were played on Monday the 2nd because the "official" National Holiday was on Monday Jan. 2, 1989.

@richardgazinia5482 interesting it was on a Saturday so given everything you don't think this should have been postponed to Monday January 2nd? I'm not old enough I'm looking for what was the temperature. I think these days the game is postponed.
What the Fog is going on.
3:48 survey says....
Ditka v. Buddy
2:08 let's go back in time to fill in the blanks
Where did you find this?
The Eagles had this game. They completely shot themselves in the foot with those two penalties that wiped out touchdowns and Keith Jackson dropping that gimmie touchdown. That offensive pass interference near the end of the second quarter that resulted in a field goal. All that yardage and they couldn't do a damn thing with it.

As a Bears fan I agree they didn’t deserve to win this game the Eagles dropped it away
Chris Berman got a lot better at this this
6:12 the sign says it all
The Eagles giving the Raiders some compitition for being the biggest whiners in league history.

The only one who whined about this game was the Eagles dumb ass owner, Norm Braman. Buddy never said a word about the fog. Neither did Cunningham
Buddy couldnt win at soldier field being on the other side.he was 0-2
Typical Chicago gangterism !
