Focus on These Virtues If You Want to Grow Closer to Christ (feat. Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P.)
Ойын-сауық
Can you guess what 3 virtues are needed to grow close to God?
In his book, “Introduction to the Devout Life”, St. Francis de Sales lists patience, humility, and meekness as the most essential virtues to live holy lives devoted to God.
What makes these so important?
Patience gives us the ability to endure trials and suffering, humility helps us see ourselves as we truly are in relation to the greatness of God, and meekness calms our tempers so that we may show God’s peace to others.
Cultivating these virtues is just the beginning.
If you’d like to learn more about how exactly to devote your life to God, join Fr. Gregory Pine and Fr. Jacob-Bertrand in reading “Introduction to the Devout Life” in the first season of Ascension’s newest podcast “Catholic Classics”!

Thank you Fr. I pray that everyone here can get closer to walking with Jesus.
I'm actually reading St. Francis de Sales' book Introduction to the Devout Life! This is such great timing! I highly recommend the book!
One of my favorite books The Devout Life. So simple and chock full of wisdom that he makes easy to understand
Jesus Christ, Increase my 1. Patience 2. Humility 3. Meekness Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirt. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end amen.
I appreciate that the tabernacle is right behind you as you speak. You speak, I pray while you speak.
I hope you do more like this. This was great. More on suffering would be great.
Thank you 🙏🏿

“Further up and further in to the Life of God”👍
I asked God to shepherd me and help me to grow in my Faith, Trust, obedience and love and I heard His answer...Patience, Humility and Meekness. Jesus, I trust in You!, Jesus, I trust in You!, Jesus, I trust in You. Thank You, 🙏❤🔥
Hard to know the difference between suffering and feeling sorry for myself. I didn’t get vaccinated nor wore a mask during these couple years of Covid. My sister (super strong liberal) told me I’m not welcome to come to her house for thanksgiving and Christmas because I wasn’t vaccinated. My brothers and her continue to exclude me even though they all had Covid. I feel incredibly sad about this. My feelings are really hurt. So it’s hard to know if it’s suffering or just feeling sorry for oneself. I wouldn’t want to align myself incorrectly out of lack of self awareness.

@Trump won (which he certainly did!) I'm unvaxxed as well, the same goes for most of my family so I haven't experienced what you're going through. For a family member to exclude you from their family functions because of a choice you made for your personal health is awful. They're obviously trying to bully you. Offer your suffering up to Jesus

Trump Won, Jesus said in reading from Luke's gospel 12:49-53 that came up few Sundays ago, that he had not come to bring peace but to cause division. A household of 5 will be divided 3 against 2. Father against son, and son against Father. Mother against daughter and daughter against mother. He also says in bible that if you suffer in Jesus's name you will be greatly rewarded by him. So be assured that God will support you. So pray for your family as you know the power of God can convert any mind and heart. God bless. 🙏

Maybe God is using their arrogance to shield you against getting Covid. As you pointed out, they got Covid anyway, but you didn't. You chose to trust Him to keep you safe and healthy. Let this trial bring you closer to Him. Praise Jesus, pray for them, and go on with your life.

It IS sad 😞 because your family is rejecting you. Jesus experienced rejection, remember? Stay true to Christ and He will never reject you.
I love the Catholic Faith, thank you 🙏

I have discovered a great way to get closer to Christ. Read his Word daily and do what it says.
Thank you Father Pine for this enlightening video. This is the first time I get to watch you. I look forward to more of these from you.
This book is very dear to me and I’m really excited to go through it with a group! Thank you!!
Closer to God is the key to our Salvation. We are here to Know Love and Serve God. So this video and the coming audiobook will really help. Good to purchase book as backup. By the way heard Humility described as not thinking less of ourselves. But think of ourselves less. And So others more.
I love this!!!
recommend this channel to the CCD kids.

You have such a calming way of speaking. I enjoy listening to you. Thank you!
Thank you. God bless you.
LET'S GO!!!!!
If you believe Freewill is God' greatest gift to humanity, then we all already know God's Will, do we not? This sermon reminds me of Tolkien's poem regarding the One Ring to rule them all... Free: not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one desires without imposing upon another; not or no longer confined or imprisoned. Will: (philosophy); an action. Dom: denoting a state or condition. Body/Mind/Emotion: when a Spirit of Freewill (God; Human) imposes its Will upon the Freewill of another it ceases being Freewill (Divine; Humane; Heaven or Peace on Earth). Belief is an E~motion. Do a persons words and actions agree? For through these things can be found one’s measure of reliability and sincerity towards anything, including Self; including God; including Love. Believe what you will ~ God Bless ~ Much Love ~ Good Luck
Thank you Fr. Gregory Pine. This video was very enlightening.
Excited for the seriess!

Yes father you are correct
I listened to the introduction to the devout life on Catholic classics and it was awesome! Sorry, doing speech to text and I'm too lazy to put in punctuation, I'm sure you'll figure it out😂

Cool! Has ascention adopted Fr Gregory now?
I am a catechist in my parish. This is quite relevant with my lesson tonight. I wish I watched this prior to our class. Anyway, I could always go back and revisit our lesson on virtues. (One other thing, Fr. Gregory, I noticed you have a bump on your forehead. Have you had a doctor looked at it?)
That poncho looks perfect to eat spaghetti.
How often have I heard the definitions of virtues while presupposing a god.
Thanks, Fr. I just want to meet Jesus & not have him say "I did not know you..."

ST. CYRIL OF ALEXANDRIA: “Why do you judge your neighbors? If you venture to judge them, having no authority to do it, it is yourself rather that will be condemned, because God’s law does not permit you to judge others. Psalm 129:3: 'If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt, Lord, who would survive?'"
I need to work on the third virtue meekness 😢

It starts on October 24. I imagine more information is coming soon.
The minute you know you're humble... You're not.
Are you related to Matt Frad? You guys look like brothers 😁
4days fasting...how do you do it fr gregory?
Jesus said without me you can do nothing. Human works is against his calling. Many are called few choosen. Luther tried same he knew he not justified by the monastic Life.
is Fr. Gregory Pine OP?
The return of Jesus Christ is likened to the coming of a thief in the night. Two passages use the wording “a thief in the night”: Matthew 24:43, “Understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into,” and 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” But for centuries now Christians have claimed that Christ's return is days away! So maybe Christ is coming like a Senior Citizen using a walker:) I jest. But seriously the honest question for Christians is...How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait until the return of Christ before humanity moves on to actual taking responsiblity to solving world problems without religious input? I haven't been able to get an honest answer on this from any Christian...they dodge it with bible verses...rationalizations. I know the question is an uncomfortable one because it makes you question your faith. But for Christianity to be true the return of Christ has to happen correct? I know all the answers that the bible gives...but again I am asking human being to human being how long is a reasonable time frame for the world to keep the belief in Christ's return? 10 years? 100 years? 1000 years? 10,000 years?
