Focus on These Virtues If You Want to Grow Closer to Christ (feat. Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P.)

Ойын-сауық

Can you guess what 3 virtues are needed to grow close to God?
In his book, “Introduction to the Devout Life”, St. Francis de Sales lists patience, humility, and meekness as the most essential virtues to live holy lives devoted to God.
What makes these so important?
Patience gives us the ability to endure trials and suffering, humility helps us see ourselves as we truly are in relation to the greatness of God, and meekness calms our tempers so that we may show God’s peace to others.
Cultivating these virtues is just the beginning.
If you’d like to learn more about how exactly to devote your life to God, join Fr. Gregory Pine and Fr. Jacob-Bertrand in reading “Introduction to the Devout Life” in the first season of Ascension’s newest podcast “Catholic Classics”!

Hard to know the difference between suffering and feeling sorry for myself. I didn’t get vaccinated nor wore a mask during these couple years of Covid. My sister (super strong liberal) told me I’m not welcome to come to her house for thanksgiving and Christmas because I wasn’t vaccinated. My brothers and her continue to exclude me even though they all had Covid. I feel incredibly sad about this. My feelings are really hurt. So it’s hard to know if it’s suffering or just feeling sorry for oneself. I wouldn’t want to align myself incorrectly out of lack of self awareness.

@Trump won (which he certainly did!) I'm unvaxxed as well, the same goes for most of my family so I haven't experienced what you're going through. For a family member to exclude you from their family functions because of a choice you made for your personal health is awful. They're obviously trying to bully you. Offer your suffering up to Jesus

Trump Won, Jesus said in reading from Luke's gospel 12:49-53 that came up few Sundays ago, that he had not come to bring peace but to cause division. A household of 5 will be divided 3 against 2. Father against son, and son against Father. Mother against daughter and daughter against mother. He also says in bible that if you suffer in Jesus's name you will be greatly rewarded by him. So be assured that God will support you. So pray for your family as you know the power of God can convert any mind and heart. God bless. 🙏

Maybe God is using their arrogance to shield you against getting Covid. As you pointed out, they got Covid anyway, but you didn't. You chose to trust Him to keep you safe and healthy. Let this trial bring you closer to Him. Praise Jesus, pray for them, and go on with your life.

If you believe Freewill is God' greatest gift to humanity, then we all already know God's Will, do we not? This sermon reminds me of Tolkien's poem regarding the One Ring to rule them all... Free: not under the control or in the power of another; able to act or be done as one desires without imposing upon another; not or no longer confined or imprisoned. Will: (philosophy); an action. Dom: denoting a state or condition. Body/Mind/Emotion: when a Spirit of Freewill (God; Human) imposes its Will upon the Freewill of another it ceases being Freewill (Divine; Humane; Heaven or Peace on Earth). Belief is an E~motion. Do a persons words and actions agree? For through these things can be found one’s measure of reliability and sincerity towards anything, including Self; including God; including Love. Believe what you will ~ God Bless ~ Much Love ~ Good Luck

The return of Jesus Christ is likened to the coming of a thief in the night. Two passages use the wording “a thief in the night”: Matthew 24:43, “Understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into,” and 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” But for centuries now Christians have claimed that Christ's return is days away! So maybe Christ is coming like a Senior Citizen using a walker:) I jest. But seriously the honest question for Christians is...How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait until the return of Christ before humanity moves on to actual taking responsiblity to solving world problems without religious input? I haven't been able to get an honest answer on this from any Christian...they dodge it with bible verses...rationalizations. I know the question is an uncomfortable one because it makes you question your faith. But for Christianity to be true the return of Christ has to happen correct? I know all the answers that the bible gives...but again I am asking human being to human being how long is a reasonable time frame for the world to keep the belief in Christ's return? 10 years? 100 years? 1000 years? 10,000 years?
