Father Mike, As a Church Going Catholic I find many Catholic apologists on You tube who miss represent or ignore the Gospel of Jesus. You might be the worst offender. People are free to choose their spiritual path. It is none of your business who is right or wrong. Jesus was Jewish by the way. He did not know what a Christian was and he had no intent to start a partlicular religion. That came along after he was put to death by a corrupt government, corrupt religious leaders and an angry mob. All his words thoughts and Ideas were meant to make us faithful to God, not religion. The Catholic faith works for you and I. Do not belittle the billions of people who do not agree with our spiritual values by saying they wont go to heaven because you have no idea who will go to heaven or even what heaven is. To say otherwise is dishonest. Jesus did not like dishonesty.
Great examples
A little while ago a priest told us right before communion to let the priest do the work, just open your mouth. It’s kind of like a golf swing, you need the follow-through. He said, don’t move your head. So you just hold very still until it is fully placed. I think he MIGHT have said to us because at another church in the city a priest placed it on my tongue and it fell out! I think it was the second time! I said I would still have it but he gave me another one. I told him he could just give it to me on the hand. After mass he beckoned me over and looking so beautiful he said I could continue to receive it on the tongue, basically to not be afraid to. Cause I had been weeping ever since and I think he wanted reassure me. Btw I love this description of the Eucharist. He gets it. I love that he gets it and I wish the whole world would get it

This kind of mental gymnastics is all about the politics of religion ... about maintaining the position of the Catholic Church in the world FOR CATHOLICS. It's not a position of humility -- we believe that God loves us ALL beyond our understanding and responding to that by being as loving as we can be -- it's a view that seeks to put the Catholic perspective at the top of an imaginary tree of religious understanding. I have been a Catholic for nearly seventy years, but I can no longer stomach the deep hypocrisy of the institutional church. It is more than an imperfect human instition -- I understand it will never be perfect -- but it is an instituion that presided over the abuse of the people it professes to have a special mission toward: the child, the lonely, the isolated, the poor. I think of the abused individual for whom stepping into a church is no longer possible -- the idea of it brings too much trauma; they are effectively excluded -- and stand in solidary with them. OUTSIDE THE CHURCH. This position has removed the scales from my eyes and allows me to see this kind of mental gymnastics -- delivered so fast it's almost impossible to take in -- for what it is. For no matter how you spin it, you are creating a capricious God who, because of an accident of history, creates a 'second class' human. I just don't buy it anymore.

The Sabbath has always been and will always be on Saturday. The Sabbath was created by God as a holy day of rest and it was always the last day of the week. If anyone is not keeping that day holy and instead does so on a Sunday is in direct violation of the Fourth Commandment.

It's good to know that I am not the only one who gets distracted. I feel guilty when it happens. I usually ask the Holy Spirit to be with me before I start praying. Good to hear Father Mike's analogy on this.

Lack of GRATITUDE is the original sin. Our first parents Adam and Eve lacked GRATITUDE for what Jehovah gave them and it is this lack of GRATITUDE that caused them to eat off the Forbidden tree thus unleashing a series of negative events that have resulted in our ultimate demise. This morning my faith was tested. I asked myself why such a loving God would keep making us jump through hoops and over hurdles just to gain everlasting life. Jehovah, in his infinite knowledge bestowed upon me His wisdom and reminded me that as humans, we only value and appreciate that which we have worked to gain. God initially gave us the gift of life for free and we did not appreciate it. Now God exacts a price-Our obedience and total submission to his will as demonstration of our readiness to live forever under his governance. The "hoops and hurdles" are necessary inorder to build our faith and build our appreciation for Jehovah. The faith we exercise now is the faith that will key us in to God's new world. It is the muscle needed to break open the gate of everlasting life. Our lack of gratitude transports us back to the Garden of Eden. Everytime we lack gratitude or appreciation, we stand outside the garden, barred by the rotating flaming swords, looking helpless, hopeless, naked and afraid. We can water the swords and extinguish the flames with our integrity, faith, devotion, appreciation and love for Jehovah and his righteousness. ❤️
