I also own S&W 915 & Shield 2.0, Glock 19 Taurus G2C & PT111 Pro... and the FNX-9 is my favorite as well. I've owned that for about 8 yrs now. Very accurate, reliable, feels good in my hands and to me, it just looks the best. Down side is after-market upgrades are hard to find. However, I just ordered a CAA MCK and Glock 17 to live in that chassis... so all this might change for me when these arrive. Good vid... props for this pistol is long over due.

I have an FNX-45 and I absolutely love it...so I got one of these to match and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I love the feel, the sights, and the trigger...but it's got an awful lot of muzzle flip for a 9mm. I shot it side-by-side with my FNX-45 and the muzzle flip on them felt almost the same. Compared to an M&P9 or G34 it feels like you're shooting a .40! That being said after a bit of getting used to it, it shot very well. It's definitely the best option out there for a DA/SA polymer pistol.

I have a FNH FNX 45 tactical but I also own a FNX 9. Yes the 45 has the ability to run all the bells and whistles and I do use it for range shoots. But everyday carry is the FNX 9 . The love the DA/SA sidearms. I also still own a 3rd gen Smith the 5906 . Like I said the DA/SA pistols are what I am most comfortable with Sig p229 and so on. The only striker fire pistol I own is a 3rd gen Glock G20. At the time I felt it was the best choice for 10mm. Anyway I went off topic. The FNX 9 is more than combat accurate and it is easy to field strip and maintain . Everyone who has handled this firearm has fallen in love with it. I also purchased the FN/ Galco leather paddle holster which completes it. But once you add a taclight you almost have to go with Kydex which I really do not care for.

They're basically nonexistent here, I have its big brother the FNX45 Tac, If you all know a shop that carries them where you are I have no problem buying out of state just to get ahold of one. Good video. I've looked at these over the years and have thought about giving them a try because of the features this gun has, but my biggest concern is whether or not FN will continue to make them. I'm not sure how many of these they sell, and the FiveSeven has been around forever and seemingly only fills a niche market, but it's kind of a bummer when you get a pistol you end up really liking and the manufacturer discontinues it.

  • @sweetcostarica

I think what folks mean by _"it doesn't have a good trigger"_ regarding the FNX9 is the longer trigger pull. I dislike long trigger pulls too just because it slows up you fast shooting ability. But this is just a guess as *_"a good trigger"_* is very subjective to the individual & organization (example: police like long & heavy triggers for safety, Cowboy action shooter like "hair" triggers, the military like two stage triggers on their M16/Ar-15, etc.). God bless *EDIT* BTW: My brother just bought (March 2021) the newer *FN 509* _without a manual safety/de-cocker_ I think that is what most folks are buying over the older but similar FNX9.

I bought the FNX-9 new in 2014. It was defective with the double action trigger often failing to fall forward. See other KZread videos "double action trigger heat problem" and "will not fire in double action". I discovered the problem before firing a single box of ammo. I contacted FN customer service and they denied such a problem existed even though there were youtube videos demonstrating the problem. They agreed to repair it but it required the hassle and expense of shipping the gun prepaid to Arnold Mo. Then they made me pay misc, postage-Ins- handling to get the gun back. It cost me a small fortune to have them fix their mistake. I received it back with a different trigger problem. When I rack the slide or release the trigger safety it makes a loud clicking sound when you touch the trigger. After that, the trigger functions reliably with an awful spongy trigger pull as you demonstrate in the video. I get angry every time I look at my gun collection. My most expensive gun it a lemon.

You have to depress it pretty significantly for that to happen. So just carrying it in a holster would be safe. Drawing the gun and releasing the safety takes a deliberate action. With training should be no issues. However when shooting the gun you may need to experiment with your grip. I placed my thumb under the deckocker/safety the first time and accidentally lifted up causing it to engage the safety enough to kill the trigger. But I know better now.

Davis Dunn the mag pack? What I found was just someone selling 3 mags on gunbroker for a good price. I also saw others listed there for a good price. You just have to search through the listings to find the good deals.

Great review. The FNX high on the list along with H&K's USP 30 LEM V.1. I suspect the FNX will come first. H&K is a bit to pricey at the moment. Not shooting anyone or anything you do not intend to shoot is Not the function of any safety from Glock's "Safe Action" through variations of 1911 'Cocked & Locked" or any variation of DA/SA. Not shooting anything or anyone I do not intend to shoot is a function and the purpose of my Brain Cells. Semi-Auto pistols made since 1980 (and most before then) simply will not discharge unless the trigger is pressed all the way through the firing sequence. Safeties are to prevent the trigger from being pressed all the way through the firing sequence. Period. That is All they are for and that is all they do. With quality firearms, there really is no 'Best' pistol. There are ones I Like Best & there are those I Like Less. My CZ's aren't "Better" than my Sigs or Glocks I just Like them Best. Over the years I've had many different kinds of pistols. Right now I favor DA/SA semi automatics. I like putting my thumb on the hammer when I re-holster. If the hammer moves, something is wrong. So I stop. No one wants Glock leg

How can you find the manufacturing date code on a FN pistol ? I just picked one up and was wondering when it was made .

You have to call FN directly and give them the serial number. They answered right away and I had my answer in less than 2 minutes.

I like this firearm, the only downside of this pistol is that the interchangeable backstraps tend to shift down while shooting. Very annoying. The feature set offered on this pistol is amazing. It was the original 19X. The frame is the same size as a G17 and the slide the same as a G19. All controls are ambidextrous.

FN needs to keep up with the times. 10mm, 357 Sig and 5.7x28 are the calibers of the future. 9mm, 40 and 45 are relics of the past.

I may be CZ bias. I like the grip texturing much better on the FN but love the way a CZ feels in the hand. I like the placement of the controls better on the P07. The triggers are much different but very good.

I agree the CZ is a bit better. The biggest difference for me is the recoil spring. The FNX has a heavy recoil spring. I also like the height over bore on the P07, but it is less to grab onto. It also has a slightly shorter grip, compact vs full size. But you can still get a 17 round mag for the P07 if u want. Better market for the CZ to as FN has generally moved on from the FNX line. They really missed the mark by not offering a FNX-9 tactical
