I use 100% and 80% for the elevator throw...100% on ailerons..... NO EXPO ANYWHERE! This plane flys perfect as is.... It is the finest plane FMS has ever produced!

    Soylent Green I prefer the P-40 as it is the Newest generation of models from FMS. It has the newest generation submerged hinges, ball links, glueless assembly, excellent fit and finish, and latest generation all aluminum rotating retracts. IT IS VERY EASY TO FLY for a tail dragger as it flys great slowly and is also a rocket ship on 4s. Feel free to call me 407-683-6032 Rich

    jetthelooter Yea man, that's what I mean... $350 is extremely reasonable once you add a motor, servos and retracts to a wood model. This P-40 is the BEST in the FMS line of models.... 7 pre-installed metal gear digital servos, 650kv outrunner motor installed, 70amp ESC installed, Beautiful servoless rotating aluminum shock absorbing retracts installed, retracting tail gear with doors, scale split flaps, wing lights installed.... Also, all horns, rods, ball links, guns, gunsight, pitot tube are all installed.... no glue is needed ANYWHERE! Only a few screws gets this thing together and you're flying... The time savings alone is worth it:)

    Any tips on landing it? I'm trying not to break the landing gear on mine haha. What I normally do is cut the throttle as it's coming in, then as I start to see the plane slow down, I increase throttle to about 1/4-1/3, and then slowly bring the throttle down to let it sink. It works most of the time, but sometimes it can really bounce. Anything you think I could improve? thanks

  • @RCINFORMER

    @RCINFORMER

    7 жыл бұрын

    Christopher Ji sounds like you have the right idea.... 1/4 to 1/3 throttle is correct when on final. When you are in the final landing flare, adjust the sink rate by easing back on the stick to minimize the decent rate at touchdown....

  • @RCINFORMER

    @RCINFORMER

    2 жыл бұрын

    I would recommend using a servo tester in the first instance. Those black plug connectors are usually labelled on one end but if not have a look in the manual just in case they put the labelling in there and doublecheck everything with a servo tester before connecting it up. That way you can’t go wrong🙂👍

    @@RCINFORMER Awesome ! Maiden flight for me is this coming weekend. I have to drive away from Ithaca Airport, out in the country side, to fly the big ones safely. I only have a 6 channel receiver in the plane, & my DX6I transmitter, also 6 channel, only has two positions on the switches. So I'll be flying with flaps, full up or full down, until I upgrade to a NX8 transmitter. Which also means the V2 reflex will stay on " Optimized mode ", & I will be unable to change it until I upgrade Transmitter. No big deal for now. Heads up people, you'll want a 7-8 channel receiver in the 1400mm F40B, if you want to control flight modes on the V2, & have use of flaps. Also you'll want a transmitter has 3 position switches.

    I found that this bird has a massive torque roll to the left upon take off. I also found the nose broken clean off. I made an amazing repair and reinforced it with carbon spars. You can’t even tell it was in an accident unless you look for the break. Maybe I’m too use to flying a top wing style plane but I picked this bird up to prepare me for my 1700mm p51 mustang maiden. Any tips rich? As soon as I got airborne it tipped left with the quickness and I couldn’t recover.

  • @RCINFORMER

    @RCINFORMER

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sam, it will only have massive torque roll if you advance the throttle to quickly. You MUST Slowly & Smoothly advance the throttle during takeoff so that the airflow over the rudder is sufficient to maintain directional control at the time the tail wheel leaves the ground so that it can overcome the torque effects at that time. If you advance the power to quickly, the tail wheel leaves the ground to quickly & there is so much torque that even full scale rudder deflection cannot overcome all that torque from the power that has been applied.

  • @sambuvca22

    RCINFORMER thanks so much rich. Looking back I defiantly applied full power as soon as I got airborne . That makes perfect sense. I’ll make necessary corrections and try try again!

    Hi there Rich, I just purchased this model and am getting it ready to fly...but first adding several scale enhancements. I wanted to ask you about the control throws and c of g. You mention a lower rate for the elevator to use when flying full speed...however the instruction booklet gives high and low rat setting for all of the control surfaces...and talks about using low rates to begin with and only use high rates for extreme maneuvering. I think of using high rates when the model is at low speeds - say take off - to get maximum control over attitude, but then lower rates for high speed... Can you advise me which way round it should be...? and should I do dual rates for all the surfaces or just elevator...? Finally with the C of G...can you tell me:n did you go with the fms recommended 50-55mm from the leading edge or further back? Look forward to hearing from you, Michael ps, I am just interested in flying the model as securely as possible and in a scale fashion...particularly in surviving the maiden! Don't care about extreme maneuvering!
