Flying with Blancolirio and MayDay STOL

Спорт

Juan Browne, KZread star "Blancolirio" gets himself a new Aviat Husky aircraft and comes to Tahoe for some density altitude flying and fun off airport shenanigans. Trent Palmer joins the fun as does Wild Bill and others. We have a good time flying our local spots and then venturing to the Turner Ranch.
We then head to Wayne Nebraska where we had an incredible time at the 1st annual #MayDayStol event. STOL Drag itself gained National accreditation during this event allowing STOL Drag to officially take its show and tour on the road. Stay tuned for more drags as we expand across the country. Next up is the Reno Air Races, High SIerra and several other stops in discussion.

I hope to fly with you one day!

    When did Bush Air get the wingtip?

  • @bjs2022
    @bjs20223 жыл бұрын

    Some planes get off quickly in a very short distance but their ability to climb to clear an obstacle may be poor. In the 1960s and 1970s the performance specifications for general aviation airplanes almost always included the takeoff and landing distance to clear a 50 foot obstacle at gross weight and at sea level with standard atmosphere and temperature. In fact, 500 feet or less was the definition of a STOL airplane. Only U.S. planes like the Super Cub and the unique Helio Courier could do it. I suspect the Polish Wilga might have qualified. I want to see a takeoff to clear a 50 foot obstacle competition that is conducted and recorded using custom built portable high tech laser range finding or radar equipment. It would measure when the plane reached 50 feet. The landing obstacle could be a highly visible but weak “ribbon” stretched between two 50 foot poles and the ribbon could be quickly replaced via some type of mechanical mechanism. The results would be transmitted to a large portable display similar to what is used at drag strips.
