C.W. You are right about your fight against an F-15 with a FWS pilot and his awesome flight time. But I personnaly think the F-15C combine the best of F-18 (low speed handlings) and F-16 (high energy and high g's). I think it's still a beast. Good interwiew, thanks.

My respects Sir. Thank you very much for this interview. Your career is very fascinating!! It's a privilege to hear some insight of the two greatest air power in the world. I do have a great admiration for aggressors squadrons. I remember seeing my Dad discussing with an 527th TFTAS F5E pilot at Dijon when he was piloting mirages 3B in late 70s. I hope you've writen some BFM, BVR tactics manuals in your squadrons. Fly safe. Very respectfuly.

Funny how every aviation geeks story begins the same way. My pilot journey started with a flight to Toronto on a Tristar at 11. I spent most of that flight in the cockpit. After that hooked and has never changed.

Awesome interview! Probably my favorite airplane, and definitely a collab between two of my favorite aviation KZreadrs. I’m looking forward to the next part. It was also great to get some anecdotal evidence for the Harrier’s legendary “viffing” move. Although it sounds like it wasn’t decisive against an F-16 driver trained in dissimilar air combat, I can see it turning the tables on an unwary adversary. Edit: Just pledged on Patreon. Only too happy to support fine work like this.

Great interview Mike, again. I am biased of course but I too think the Viper is the best looking jet. I got to go around a few at an ANG unit in San Antonio...almost got a hop in one but the unit said I wasn’t seat qual’d. Okay, I had a seat qual in the Goshawk, as you know, but was told no. Oh well.

We so massively out match the entire world...it's a total joke listening to them and their concepts that they think are some how equal. Nations with 6 subs that talk about there NATO commitments. Countries with their entire strategic lift capability of 5 heavies. Lol, carriers with jump ramps lololololol. Lots of cases where ANG pilots smoke airforce. It's not the same with ground units being as leathal.... But reseves ground units bring awesome loads of technical support, stuff we don't want to waste time with... Like how to do NBC stuff, or medical stuff... All we we want to do on the line is kill you. We want to kill you so fast no reservists have the time to make it into theater. But the airmen of the reserves major gift to battle is the tanker fleet. All regular commerical pilots that will though on a uniform and fly the gas that keep the air up in the air... Those guys are the back bone nobody sees that keeps these massive air armada's fed.

The viper name comes from the pilots who flew the F16 in the past who viewed the aircraft like a viper snake on the way the it looks and it stuck with pilots to this day.All F -16s worldwide adopted the viper name but the official and original name is the fighting falcon.
