Flying A Private Plane To Jackson Hole Wyoming To Go Snowboarding! | Pilatus PC-12NG
Hop onboard with me for a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in a 4-blade PC-12NG! Flying next to the Tetons is amazingly beautiful, and I had enough down time to get in some snowboarding!

It’s a great airport and great area!
Very nice flight. I piloted PC-12 AIRMED in and out of there many years back. Enjoyable flights in all kinds of weather in the PC-12. Area used to be known as JACKSON'S HOLE and the town is JACKSON, WYOMING. Now, I think most people just drop the'S on the end of JACKSON and just say Jackson Hole. No matter the verbiage, it is still a very beautiful place in this United States of America. Really beautiful to see the Elk herds in Winter as they roam around the valley. I am lucky to have seen all 48 of the contiguous states while piloting the PC-12. Great country!!

Didn’t know it used to be called Jackson’s Hole! Very cool you got to hit all 48 in the PC12!
I binged watched your videos a few months back when I was getting ready to fly the PC-12. Ive just now got about 250 hours in it! split pretty evenly between the legacy and the NG. Thought I'd write back to you to give you an update!

You parked so that crack in the ramp pavement intersected the pitot, giving me a surprise for a moment I was seeing the pitot cover streamer still in place. Think you did that on purpose Capt Grant, checking if I did a good preflight. Thanks for another great video and commentary.

Great videos, Grant. I'm hoping to get a Pilatus gig after retiring from the USAF and a major express cargo company in the midsouth. Wouldn't mind talking and throwing the gear for you sometime to see how the PC-12 flies. Best of luck!
Beautiful. Thank you Grant. You could help your co-pilot with his radio work by reminding him to repeat all instructions as given and to acknowledge instructions with callsign. Small point, but if he wants to be a pilot, it may prevent him being growled at by ATC!

Thanks! Regarding my co-pilot, we all stumble over our read backs sometimes, and I edited callsign out of all the transmissions.

Ah, thank you. That explains it. Then please disregard my comments entirely!
Thank you for these videos. I learn something new from each video. Suggestion. Maybe put airport codes in comments so new pilots can pull out their charts immediately to fly along.

I believe you mentioned the N number was edited, but the guy doing your coms drove me insane. "Clear to go, runway heading, 3000, runway heading, clear to go 18"..... I know he might be learning coms but that was paintful...

We’ve all had our bad days on the radio.

So your copilot not reading back the call sign drove me nuts. Then I realized you were probably cutting it out to protect the N#.

Yep I edited the callsign out of every transmission. 😁
Grant we were in Jackson Hole but not skiing
I would like to know, how many rudder do you have to apply on takeoff roll?
@GrantBaker

There is a lot of left turning tendency with the big prop. It feels pretty similar to a lot of other airplanes though, because you set the rudder trim pretty far to the right for takeoff.
Some people probably like the time lapse. I like it the other way where there is no lapse in between and you go direct to the approach as Citation Max does. Just giving my two sense as the lapse does nothing for me. Love your videos though. Spectacular

This dude reeally needs to work on his R/T.
"Promo SM" 🤦
Your Passenger needs to go back to R/T School his radio language is Appling. The reason why Radio language is set out as it is, so as not to confuse people and certain Phrases are said in certain ways and at certain times are so that mistakes are not made. Your Communication at the hold should of been "November Full Call sign Ready for departure at the runway one eight hold" (Tower Response) "November Call sign Line up and wait" (Your response) Call sign "Line Up and wait" which was done right Then the frequency change should of been read back as one one eight decimal five five so as to show it has been copied correctly. (Then Tower )"Your Cleared take off runway One eight on departure turn right three four zero climb and maintain three thousand Cleared for take off Your response should of been a full read back of the Clearance with Headings and altitudes so as not to confuse others and to show you have received and understood the clearance you have just been given. Aviation R/T Language is made standard and in English to be used world wide so that non natural speaking English persons can understand it and it follows a certain criteria and phrases so that all who use it know what is being said and why. That is why the word Ready Departure is used at the hold and only when the Air traffic controller is sure that the Runway and Approaches are clear gives the Aircraft a Clearance to either "Line up and wait" or you are "Cleared Take off" and why the Phrase changes as it becomes positive "Cleared Take Off" then all who are listening are sure. It is also another reason 20 yrs ago the words Affirmative and Negative where changed in aviation to "Affirm" and "Negative" so that if a transmission was walked over there was no confusion the Use of good R/T Phraseology is also good Airmanship it shows that you take pride in your how you operate your Aircraft and it doesn't cause confusion

Craig, I cut out the callsign from every transmission on this flight so that’s why that’s missing. Other than that, I agree that radio accuracy is important. But also keep in mind that we all have bad days and make mistakes. Also, here in the states affirmative is still used although many people do shorten it to affirm.
