Lugs a drone and batteries all the way up Everest...."Dude, I forgot the SD card"
I like how they act like the drone flyer is special for flying the drone, when what he did was no different if he had done it at sea level. However, the drone maker should be congratulated for designing a drone that can fly dependably at those high altitudes.

Very impressive video!! As an owner of a Mavic Pro, I would be interested in the flight parameters and technical insights: Did you use special "high altitude" propellers? What was the rotation speed of the propellers? Impact on battery life/flight time? General behaviour of the drone in such thin air? Thanks!

@noops it Ronan Ozturk took out the specs to make it fly higher for National Geographic! Else wise, that would be very illegal at those elevations, altitude! They have a ton of Aerial shots of the whole north face! They are looking for Sandy Irvine! But, Chinese has closed that side of the mountain for past 3 years, and Nat Geo must know something, or found something on those maps! So when the Chinese do open it up for the public to climb, they are coming back, to find what they saw on those shots! If the Chinese hasn't beat them to the punch! 2024 will be the 100 year mark, since George Mallory and Sandy Irvine climbed it in 1924!

Wonderful view of earth's highest mountain! To be able to be there in image is such a thrill. Why going through the hardship of climbing when you can be there in your imagination? Have you noticed that we can see layered rocks at the top of the mountain? These layers are sedimentary rocks, meaning that they were once at the bottom of an ancient sea. That's the power of earth's forces, to lift all that rock this high in the sky, wow!

No they didn't. This expedition was kind of a joke. They went to the summit and on their way back one guy took all of five minutes to leave the route and explore a crack that Tom Hozel thought concealed the body of Irvine. He wasn't there so they didn't look anymore than that and the little bit they flew around with the drone. I believe you can find the NatGeo video of it here on youtube.

they had to hike up most the way, swap propellers/ maybe motors, and possibly extend range and battery life. a dji is ( from factory ) not equipped to handle the dead air at altitude and that would also affect rate of climb. not possible without modification or hiking up most of the way on factory specs. call me stupid, but maybe i know a thing. this is a flex for marketing.
Well that was impressive! Ha Ha. You played a video game and took pictures. atta boy
how is this drone able to fly up into 8,440 meter most dji drone are locked in at 500 meters, unless you’re using nolimitdroz patch or either you are already at high base elevation, from the mountain point to fly up to that hight.

The 500 meters lock is based on where the remote is. It allows for 500 m altitude difference between the drone and the remote. But if the user (and the remote) is at 8000 meters for example, that means that the drone can reach 8500 m altitude at max. The higher the user goes, the higher the drone will too.
