Imagine spending your whole life training to climb one of the harshest peak on the planet and you are about to reach the summit. You're elevated, you have a million thoughts going through you're and all of a sudden a dude skis past you on his way down. Absolute mad lad!!!

Climbing down is more difficult because when you get down there is tremendous strain on your legs also there is constant fear of falling down so you need to maintain your grip. Also mountains like these have many crevices and faults which are easier to navigate when climbing up

@@samishiekh true but hear this out . The actual stress that you put on your legs is tremendous when going down. Also you are already exhausted when climbing the summit thus conserving energy becomes more critical while climbing down. Climbing down from heights around the alpine tree line is not a big deal but it's k2 climbing down here is certainly more difficult in either terms of energy consumption or the risks that climber has to face.

The good thing about K2 is that it doesn't require supplement oxygen every time. Because weather in this karakoram region is mostly not harsh as compared to nepal tibet region. If you notice closely, most of the summiters doesn't carry oxygen tank also there is low windgusts so that you can breathe the thin oxygen.

For the ones who do not know: K2 makes Everest look like a walk in the park. You can pay $100,000 and get a guide and 2 sherpas that will carry your gear, cook, set up your tent and lines to the summit of Everest. Nobody, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY will take you to the top of K2. Only experts, in top olympic athlete level physical condition and determination can summit K2, and only if the mountains allows it. 1 out of 4 climbers never get off that mountain. What this man did is unreal! How come this was not front page everywhere?

To be fair, the 1 out of 4 stat is misleading. For every four people that summit there's one death on the mountain, but most people that climb on K2 neither summit nor die. They turn back and usually make it home safely. Doesn't make this achievement any less impressive though!

@D to the Alpinist Layman (like myself), Annapurna and K2 are 6/1-half dozen the other in difficulty; in any event, to think this brave cat skied K2 AFTER CLIMBING it is national thing short of staggering.

That’s insane! This guy climbed up the hardest peak in the world without supplementary oxygen, drank a Red Bull on the top without showing strong evidence of being exhausted, and went down on his skis, even in the steep parts and in the crests! Awesome!!

@@vukkekovic7005 he probably was not, even military helicopters that can fly higher than civilian choppers, can only fly at about 20,000 feet. The base camp at k2 is 18,000 feet, he might have been flown in to the base of the mountain. But that's it. There's only one way up mountains in the Himalayas and that is walking, if they had a really high altitude chopper they could maybe get him to camp one, but I highly doubt it.

In all my years of skiing I've never seen anything like this. Shocking and yet inspiring. Congratulations!

Absolutely love the vibe. Very pleased with the general moving away from flashy photography and pumpy music in outdoor adventure videos - the type of people who are truly interested in and inspired by this type of feat are not the type who want flashy videography. We want pure experience, to feel it the way the athlete feels it. The lack of music and constant sound of his breath creates such a tense atmosphere which of course is nothing compared to what he is experiencing, but at least we get a glimpse. Thanks so much!

Red bull videos have traditionally been about glorifying adrenaline junkies and making them look like gods, but there is a growing market for suffer/exhaustion junky videos with a more human component.

This is insane. No oxygen, terrible snow, unreal exposure, and that's after summiting K2 and hauling ski gear to the top. I'm completely blown away.

@@Phamtom020 Helicopters don't fly that high except for one exception on Everest I believe once (in a heavily modified helicopter that couldn't carry much more than itself and the pilot up), that altitude is a normal cruising altitude for a passenger jet.

@@Adoogin no he did not there is a bottleneck between 2nd camp and top of mountain, and he started descend below it.

I think that was one of the hardest things I've ever watched. So many things could have went wrong my lord this guy is brave.

bruh this insane!! I've admired K2 since I was a kid having watched countless heartbreaking stories in docmentatries etc. Never thought someone would do this, balls of steel mate! K2 is fr the underrated one compared to Everest

To put this in perspective: it takes weeks to reach the summit of this mountain. Almost one in four people die during this climb and only 377 people have ever made it to the top. Then you have this madlad who decides to ski down it. An amazing achievement although I must add it was reckless considering there were so many people below him. He could have easily triggered an avalanche, something the K2 mountain is notorius for.

in the video you can see him saying "snow go right side" hes purposefully skiing down the fall line from the climbers, if an avalanche is triggered it will safely go down the side of the mountain, with all the climbers already above it

i don't know if he considered dying, he was trying to do this gic a yeare earlier and he quitted (i don't remember why) as well 2 years ago he wanted to ski everest but quitted as well as there was a hanging serac on a kumbu fall so looks like he won't take any risc whatsoever and i do believe he is a human, he just loves what he do and masters things to perfection

It’s physically impossible to ski down the entire way from the summit that’s why there are a lot of edits (just one example are the unavoidable rock bands plus then there’s the traverse at the bottleneck). He should get a lot of credit for skiing down the majority of the mountain but it’s a little misleading saying he skied the entire way

This dude is beyond impressive. Incredible. Wonder what is going on his head as he skies down. Where I saw only risk, this dude saw a way. Kudos to him. We need people like him, who push the boundaries. It is very inspiring. So much to learn from him :

@@zerubeus helicopters literally can’t fly that high up and they don’t even offer heli evacuations off k2 unlike one of Everest base camps where they can fly to. You need to look into this mountain or just check out what helicopters are capable of and you’ll realize this is 100% legit.

It is even more impressive if you know that he climbed K2 summit, alpine style, without supplemental oxygen and with skis on his back. Bargiel is one of the strongest and the fastest skialpinist/himalaist in the world.

This man has balls of steel. I can't even think of to go to K2 base camp. it's 7 days walking on the glaciers.

To think that more people have been to space than reached the summit of K2 and this guy did it without oxygen and then skiied down. Amazing

Impossible to climb k2 with without oxygen and carrying a backpack that size with all the ski gear and climbing gear, and find yourself all alone at the summit, he got there on a helicopter, all those who climbed k2 without o2 did it a alpine style and are spending much time on high altitude + 5k so the body adapt to low o2 lvl.

I am holding my breath as I watch him catch his breath as he skiis. I am so impressed. I have been watching a lot of videos about the Manaslu, Lhotse, K2 and Everest.

Bless that hospitality at camp 3. What a sweetheart.

Climbing the hardest mountain in the world only to ski down on that type of snow/ice is unreal! Let alone the oxygen deprivation, cliffs of insanity, picking a line that you pray doesn't break away. This is one of the greatest sports achievements in history, akin to Alex Honnold free climbing El Capitan. My hats off to you sir!

@@adriandanel2563 He probably made it up the actual mountain itself, because the helicopter would have had a rough time after a certain altitude. As for the first two thirds of the hike, genius, there's a little thing called flying vehicles.

How is this watching this addictive? Other people said the same thing. He's walking down the mountain. He's barely even skiing. He's going like five miles an hour

The craziest thing about this is the fact that he can't change his mind and back out, once he commits to the summit. He's got to go down to survive.

Brave as hell. You know it's real when a pro is leaning back and skidding like I do on a regular slope.

i love how casual these two are having a conversation on one of the hardest and most dangerous mountain in the world. They are literally having a conversation like they are on a hike at a local state park. Incredible

I can't imagine how many insane micro adjustments he had to make every second. The snow is so variable at that altitude and exposure. The amount of mental focus required to ski that is beyond comprehension. His heartbeat must've been a solid 180 the whole way down.

This is one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. Congratulations to Andrzej and his brother on the drone!

Wow just wow , as someone else said the degree of difficulty in that is off the roof. And you can hear how icy the snow is. Just a 100 out 10.

OMG K2 is very steep it's hard to climb and here you are skiing on it...this could go terribly wrong but kudos to you man 💯 this is absolutely insane... glad you made it down safely

2:15 That is the Japanese team. The last member of that group in yellow is Kojiro Watanabe. Soon after this video was taken he slipped on unstable snow and died while descending through the bottleneck.

Fredrick Ericsson attempted to be the first to ascend and ski down K2 in 2010, he never made the summit, he died on the ascent when a rock dislodged and he fell to his death. More than 10 years later what he attempted has been done, RIP Fredrik Ericsson, and props to who's achieved this.

K2 is in my hometown, To descend K2 by Ski mean you are going to suicide at your own will.What type of heart this man has in his chest I don't know.That pakistani at bottom was waiting for him to congratulate with a flower every.

Seeing him go down the Messner Traverse scared the shit out of me. Absolutely insane!

1/4 people die trying to climb K2. It's hard to imagine that some of the people in that video never made it back down and this guy is just skiing down. That's incredible.

This is the maddest thing i've ever seen in my life....

Waiting for that moment where the skiing become enjoyable. Never came. You can feel the difficulty the whole way through

Hans Kammerlander is the guy who was the first to descend high altitude Mountains with skis in the 70ies or so. He describes in an interview that this style of skiing is the shitties and ugliest «You will never win style points with high-altitude skiing» 😂

@@TheSeppentoni yeah, If you want to win style point you'd need flip flops and a space hopper.

This is incredible. First of all to do anything at the summit without oxygen is a feat in itself, and then to descend on skis is just amazing. Now it looks kinda slow and not so exciting to watch, but if you know anything about K2 and skiing then you realize how difficult and dangerous this is as controlling your speed of descent on such a steep mountain is nearly an inhuman feat of athleticism. It would be so easy to lose control and one single slip would mean almost certain death as there is no way to arrest the fall once the momentum picks up and many of the sections are nearly vertical. Other sections are on ridges with nothing on either side except ice or rock cliffs mere inches from his skis. There is another documentary called Zabardast which features a multinational team of skiers and snowboarders trekking through the himalayas and climbing up some other insane peaks to be the first people to make descents on skis and snowboards that is absolutely incredible to watch.

Was in Pakistan last year visiting family and I met a lot of Polish people who were climbing K2. I had no idea so many people from so many countries knew about K2's dangers and still want to climb it!! This guy is a legend

Unfortunately, as some of people in the comments point out, not all of those climbers had the chance to drink some beer and chill with Andrzej afterwards- Kojiro Watanabe fell during the descent in the Bottleneck not long after this video was taken.

How does one even conceive it in their mind to attempt this? I cannot wrap my mind around how insanely, utterly, extraordinarily difficult this feat is!

getting to watch this in 4k with a drone angle is so surreal.

The other day, I watched a Japanese National ski down Mt. Everest. The National just took off down Everest with skis and a parachute to slow him down. (He crashed and survived) This dudes ski down from K2 was slow and measured. That’s why he was successful.

Mt Everest is the tallest but it's realatively less steaper than K2, also K2 is much more rocky

I think he's referring to which side he should be skiing so he isn't sending snow/slough onto people climbing up. He doesn't want to kill people because he caused an avalanche with his slough by skiing above them. He even talks about trying not to kill people with the guy at camp 3.
