FLY FISHING COLORADO ... Chasing Big Rainbows (a 4k fly fishing video)
Was lucky enough to get out and visit some new water in search of big rainbow trout. Managed to find a few nice one's and enjoyed a great day out on the water ... and somehow, the drive home was nearly as good as the fishing! Always grateful to call Colorado home :) Hope you'll enjoy this one and thanks as always for watching! dan

Yeah I took one fall that I didn’t include in the video because a fish took me downstream, nearly killed me on a big slippery rock, and then proceeded to break me off. That was a humbling moment to say the least 🤣 That’s a smart bunch of trout down there ... and not easy to fool them much less get them in the net! Appreciate the comment and channel support as always Mike!

Appreciate it Wayne! I try not to be too sloppy out there, but every once in awhile, ya gotta change things up to get to the very far side in hopes of a biggun! Those types of casts and hooksets are kinda the equivalent of a Hail Mary in football, so was a lot of fun to actually get that brute in the net! Thanks as always for the support and hoping you can get out to Colorado someday and I’ll get you hooked on fly fishing 😉

6:28 SO COOL!! Who cares about ugly casts if you pulling in those types of fish!! The fish prior and one after were great but that one was just a brute!! Beautiful episode and really awesome production value!

Appreciate it Team Cof.f.! Definitely been trying my best to be a little more strategic with my casting lately ... and it's really been paying off with some nice fish. When I first started off with fly fishing, I was just so excited to get to the river that I would just randomly cast into the first spot on the river I arrived at. Now, I'm taking more time and being more methodical about where I'm casting. A couple examples would be: not stepping into the river when I first get there and casting from shore to not disturb the water ... hiding behind rocks or tree stumps to "stalk" and stay hidden from the trout ... and also finding those soft pockets that are often overlooked because they're not your classic run, or they're a little tougher to get to. Some of the nicest fish I've caught this Spring have been thanks to doing these types of things. Been a lot of fun and continuing to learn every time I'm out there! Thanks as always for the support my friends! dan

Hey Tom, really appreciate that man! So many incredible places to explore here in Colorado that I get overwhelmed sometimes! There’s a great book called “Colorado’s Best Fly Fishing” that I refer to when I’m looking for new places. Really informative and covers many of Colorado’s famous trout waters! Definitely check it out if you can. And that fight with the real big fella nearly did me in! He went downstream, under rocks, into submerged logs, under shelves, etc etc. Pulled out all the stops ... still amazed he didn’t get away!! Thanks for the kind words and channel support my friend and hope to see you out on the water! dan

Holy Toledo "Nice Fish" is an understatement at the 2:09-ish mark. Woweeee! I've only been fly fishing for a handful of months and love your videos. I'm a visual learning and trying to soak up as much as I can. Now, I have to find the right locations to fish to build my confidence - and not the Poudre or Boulder Creek during runoff. That is no way to build confidence. :)

mgardner63 really appreciate the kind words and channel support and welcome to the best hobby/obsession ever! Definitely fishing small creeks with lots of trees and brush during runoff can turn frustrating pretty quickly! In a couple weeks, the Upper Colorado should be in pretty good shape and there’s a number of really good beginner spots that let you get a nice drift (helps that there’s tons of hungry fish too!).

mgardner63 that fella at the 7 min mark was definitely the biggest of the day. Still can’t believe I was able to get him in the net. It would’ve been a really really long video if I showed that whole fight 😂 again, seriously appreciate your support of my channel and hope to see you out on the water! dan

I know, right?? That was a very large fish! Definitely one of my top 5 largest rainbows here in Colorado. And this definitely wasn't his first rodeo :) He had a lot of battle scars and unfortunately even lost his dorsal fin somewhere along the way. He also had some line and a hook left on him from a previous angler ... Thankfully, I was able to do a quick fix and get him cleaned up ... returned him to the water in hopefully better shape than I found him! Thanks as always for the channel support man, really do appreciate it! dan
