I’ve been growing indoor plants for about 5 years and now slowly transitioning to leca. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for all the informations you share on this channel. I’ve learned so much from you, and your long method saved all my plants during transitioning so far! 💚

Yes, I have succulents in leca. An Aloe Vera, Dracaena-birdnest, Laurentii, Verigated Jade, Zig Zag Cactus, ZZ plant, Crassula Falcata Propeller, Kalanchoe Marmorata, Moonshine. And maybe more.🙃The transition is long, but worth the effort in my opinion.

All my plants, succulents, Alocasias, ZZZ and all the others, too many to mention are in Leca - about 50) 2 failures so far. A Parlour Palm (for the 2nd time) and Syngonium Pixie. Conversely, my Syngonium pink splash is doing great🤔 I also have bonsai microcarpa in Leca too. I’m with you, if you don’t try it in Leca, you’ll never know if they like it. I don’t buy expensive plants for this reason. I’ll wait till I have more experience

One thing I will say is some organic products are compatible with semi hydro and hydroponic systems: aka fishsh*t. I also use mycorrhizae inoculant in pon.

Nora, I don't know how you can keep up with all of your plants! But they all look amazing! I love your Silver Dragon. Mine has all but died, but I'm not giving up on her! Definitely one of my favorites! It's down to 2 leaves and one of those looks to be on the way out, but it also looks like there may be a new leave coming! Fingers crossed. QUESTION: Does your humidifier(s) emit cold vapor or warm? Mine emits such cold vapor that I worry it's too cold! So I'm really reluctant to use it very often.

Once again, very informative Q & A. I’ve had a lot of my orchids in leca for near on a year now and still have questions which thankfully you’ve answered here today. I’m getting more confident about growing in leca and starting to transfer some houseplants into it now as well. Thanks for doing this Q & A video, I always enjoy them.

Pon is literally a succulent's dream - albeit, not within the context of a semi-hydro setup! Just use the rocky, inorganic substrate as a soil substitute. It's IDEAL. I've even created my own mixes; a combo of perlite, different lava rocks crushed, crushed bricks, pumice, slow-release food, some zeolite I bought, that's all. Decomposed granite is also good for succulents, when properly mixed/aerated; mostly for outdoor pots. I'd add a pinch to the ingredients I just named... I've even put a bit of soil at the bottom of the pot (for outdoor plants) so the roots have something to "aim" for. But that's purely optional. And ultimately my cats knocked that one over so I guess it's a sign - I was doing too much!! I frequently repot succulents that I buy into Pon or sphagnum moss, or even LECA, sand, perlite, etc. their roots need aeration. Many succulents sold in stores eventually rot because the soil the manufacturers have grown them in simply retains too much moisture. If anybody's wondering about succulents in semi hydro, I think we have to sort of rename the term from "semi hydro" to just "growing in inert substrate". As a system, semi hydroponics is probably not the best choice for them because of the water reservoir. Can some handle it? Yes, surprisingly, but they can just as quickly decline.. However, clay balls, LECA , perlite/sand or something like Pon are great for rooting and growing succulents in. Succulents will grow in an on anything if you give them time. That's why when a leaf falls off onto the ground, you'll have a colony in ten years. Lol. On another note sphagnum moss is very good for them, too… I've grown many, even snake plants in the lechuza pon, as well as LECA, but I WONT have a water reservoir underneath. Because they don't like that. You simply water it when you need to maybe once a week; the clay holds the water to an appropriate degree for just the right amount of time. And they're not heavy feeders, so you don't really need to worry about that - of course you can, if you dilute it heavily. That's why I think succulents do better in Pon or similarly grainy substrates. It's finer particles for the roots to get into. But also if there's slow release fertilizer then that takes care of that.. The thing is that succulents will root almost anywhere, even to the surface of a table if you leave them alone long enough.

Hi Nora! I never thought about the difference btwn organic inorganic supplements. I went online to look for the Foliage Focus and found a few sites that sell it so I will be purchasing it. Thanks for the recommendation 👍! Dee, NY, USA

Wow! 18:18 I'd like to see a better close-up of the Callisia Repens! I have never seen that before. - Yeah, I would NEVER ever use Liquidirt, never. Why would I want to have my hands in that, especially chicken & bat guano? Highly toxic, and I don't care if they say that bake it or whatever. That's a hard no from me, especially from bats, the harvesting is another downside.

Thank you so much for your knowledge in leca. I have most of my plants in leca with the hopes of all my plants. I notice you don't have yours in large pots. When you are doing your plant maintenance do you lift the roots in the pot to keep them from being in the solution? I wonder how difficult that would be with the poles. I have some plants doing well but still on the small size. I am planning to make the moss poles in hopes that would increase the size of my plants. I would love to have the big leaves on all my plants.

I just got a little monstera thai constellation (till now no aerial roots) and I would like to put it on a moss pole. What’s the right time, to put it on a pole? Would be the all mesh one, or the one with the plastic back be better for it? Thanx for that nice Q&A :) Greetings from Germany 🖖🏻

But isn't sphagnum moss also organic, therefore it also degrades. So how is it different to coco chips in that aspect? Does coco chips break down faster, contrary to it's more woody and larger structure?

How many plants do you have? Since you have so many large plans how do you manage them? Do you find you have less pest with your plants in leca balls

NO idea how many plants I have. I stopped counting a long time ago. In my mind counting serves no purpose. I certainly have fewer pests, noticeably gnats but I still get pests make no mistake. How do I manage my plants? With sheer determination.
