I watched this fight live and gave it to de la Hoya , now after watching this highlights at the lowest speed I think I could understand why they gave it to Floyd . You can see it clearer at a low speed . I give the judges props for being able to judge this fight while watching it live at a normal speed . Takes good eye to be able to judge this fight !

Much respect to both fighters, agree some punches not scoring and crowd responding as if they did, but the cardio and conditioning of these 2 athletes are phenomenal, most dont know what it's like, those slaps still hurt, tunnel vision kicks in, tremendous concentration, lactic acid building in shoulders , arms legs ect , once you have been in the ring u learn respect, it takes skill, and years of training to perform like that, I think the money is important to them, but also it's in their blood and heart, totally different breed, respect people

I actually watched this fight on ppv and bet on Mayweather but De La Hoya really should have remained consistent with that jab. His jab and Maidana are the only things that I saw that disrupted Mayweather's boxing

Isoke Nichols Castillo won the first fight. That was a garbage decision. That is the only fight that Mayweather didn't look convinced that he won and he didn't. That's the only fight he lost

the smile at the end was one of the most satisfying smiles i've ever seen after a boxing match like the smile says how much of a great time they had in the ring

De La Hoya connected on 122 of 587 total punches (21 percent), and Mayweather connected on 207 of 481 (43 percent). De La Hoya was the busier fighter, but Floyd's patience and crazy accuracy that he's known for won him the fight. Stats don't lie. With that said, I think that if Oscar had continued his body work on Floyd, this could have gone a different way. Floyd's ability to adjust quickly has always made him difficult to fight. Canelo felt it too.

Both masters of their craft. When De la Hoya was landing it was almost always never flush. When Mayweather was landing he was almost always hitting glove first. Both legends, both amazing fighters. Miss the good old days of boxing.

Yea every hit that damage logan scared him into hugging floyd. And because of his size that method is effective, i mean after all that fight with such a size difference would never happen in the first place so the fact that mayweather almost knocked him out in round 4 and 5 really suprised me being that he was at the highest weight slowest speed and oldest hes ever been. All in all though whoever paid to watch that bs was the people who lost lol

Man, this is a great fight. Floyd was definitely more accurate and retained his energy better throughout the fight, but De La Hoya really kept his pressure on. Most aggressive fighters against Floyd ended up looking foolish with their missed shots and taking that slip counter right to the face. But De La Hoya looked in it all the way. The smiles at the end say it all.

I've rewatched this fight a few times. It was close. I can see how it could be scored either way. Would have loved a rematch. De la hoya had a good game plan. Floyd his usual slick self with great timing with that right hand down the pipe.

jeddii mar because boxing isn’t always about hurting the opponent, Floyd outboxed him and had a lot more impactful hits and power punches via the punching stats. Also all those flurry of punches Oscar threw didn’t really make sense imo. Floyd’s too good of a defensive fighter, the punches were either blocked or slid off, and it just made Oscar tired like we saw in the later rounds.

Listen what yall have to understand Is the same shoulder that Mayweather has for defense is the same shoulder that Hoya uses. The crazy thing is that same crowd was cheering for the same non landing punches that Mayweather was not landing also. This fight is so technical. I remember being younger and watching this fight and seeing Floyd's defense. You have to watch this video on 0.25x speed. To truly see the defense, pure class, best defensive fighter in boxing history..coming from a Mexican.. I lost so much money betting against Mayweather.. Respect..!

I think in the long term De La Hoya is an underrated fighter. At the time I understand the hype around him outgrew his skills, but here we have an old version of DLH taking the best boxer of the era to a SD. That's impressive. He shouldn't have moved down in weight to face Pacquiao, that ruined any chance he had of further success in boxing.
