I had trouble finding an orange fabric so I found a recipe using Tangerine plus a little Apple Green. It turned out perfectly! I love the surprise of the end result!

It was fun, I will be trying again with other colors! 😀
Hi, Lara! Thank you for showing us your dyeing experiments. I really enjoyed it, and I would say they were very successful! All the colors you produced look great, especially the Evening Blue ones. Isn’t it amazing how the colors can all react so differently? I hope you are proud of your efforts, because you did a great job! 🤗 Meline

Great video! Love how all of it turned out. I have never used black tea bags when dying. I love the results. I am going to get some for next time I dye fabrics. I think it so fun to dye fabric and experiment with all the different colors 😊

Thank you so much for sharing and the inspiration. 😊I have wanted to dye some of my fabric really to darken the color but, more so to soften it like the purchased ones. 😊

The coffee/tea really works well to darken the color! Thanks for watching 😊
The instant coffee is also great because you can increase the strength/darkness factor. I'm going to try walnut crystals which I had on hand. The black is really intense and will dye very dark. You can also pick up Color Remover by RIT which is handy if you get a combo you don't like. There are two grays, a light and a dark. I bought the light but have yet to try.

That’s good to know. My store didn’t have gray in stock so I had to dilute the black. I need to order the gray when I get the denim blue I wanted to try. I also read a comment on someone else’s channel to try rubbing the coffee grounds on your fabric before going in the oven and then rinsing out. There are so many things to try!
Your grey came out very nicely. I'll let you know how mine does. I love dying the opalescent best!

Wow, that was fun. You did a great job, I love all the colors of the dyed fabric. I'm considering whether dyeing floss works similarly well. Thanks a lot for the Video!

I’ve never thought to try dyeing floss. Would be fun to try! If you have white dmc on hand when your dyeing it would be easy to add it in with your fabric. Great idea! 😀

I think the yellow & blue splotches on your gray fabric is due to the salt not being completely diluted. I believe I’ve heard that in another video.

Lara your orange turned out soooo pretty! I love the way the blues changed, I've done a blue before which did the same but my mottling was excessive. I need to try again. Mine seemed to smell like coffee forever lol, did yours?
@textilly
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I did notice the coffee/tea smell. I was thinking of rinsing the fabric before hanging to dry next time to see if that helps but it might get rid of a lot of the color. It’s something I’ll have to experiment with. I don’t really notice the smell being as strong on the lugana I dyed a year or so ago. I’m excited to start stitching on the orange, I was happy with how it turned out. Thanks for watching!
They are all different and very pretty. Question - why do you have to tuck in the ends?
@textilly
Жыл бұрын
I remember Priscilla and Chelsea mentioning that in their tutorial. I think the edges being exposed in the oven are more likely to burn and get crispy. Thanks for watching!
Question: why does it go in the oven?
@textilly
Жыл бұрын
The Stitching with the Housewives tutorial said you need to use heat to set the color. They use the oven to do that and it also darkens the fabric a little more. I’ve also heard it could be done in the microwave but I haven’t tried that.
