Florida International Audio Expo Days 2 and 3
Музыка
Here's coverage of days 2 and 3 of the Florida International Audio Expo. This truly was an international Expo as you'll see. Products were on display from everywhere from Latvia to the U.K. to France, Canada, Finland, Austria, Czech Republic, Vietnam and Denmark.
Product prices were equally wide-ranging. There was something for everyone at the show, though there was less analog and vinyl than hoped for.
Loudspeakers were as usual an important part of the show and there were many new and interesting ones, but especially noteworthy was the new Børresen X series that included a floor stander for $8800 a pair. It includes much of the tech (albeit downsized) contained in the top tier .$280,000 M3.
Also at the top end and among the best sounding at the show were the Acora VRC-1 ($220,000). They filled a huge room with magnificent sound. Gershman Acoustics showed a 30th anniversary edition of its Black Swan speaker.
SVS debuted at the show a new top of the line "Ultra Evolution"" series, the most expensive being $5000/pr.
MC Audiotech introduced the TL-8 ($15,000) a floor stander, but smaller than previous speakers from the company featuring an 8 inch transmission line loaded woofer and a single WBLS (wideband line source) driver, which inventor Paul Paddock patented almost forty years ago and was used in speakers reviewed by my previous endeavor more than twenty years ago. The speaker offered impressive clarity and detail resolution but the video wasn't useable so you'll just have to take my word for it.
At the other end of the price spectrum Vienna Acoustics showed its fifth generation 2 way Haydn costing $3500. Sounded sweet and as they say, "musical".
ELAC demoed a pair of Concentro S503s bookshelf speakers ($6999) that impressed. And back at the other end, Stenheim's Alumine Five SE ($73,500) impressed. Falcon Acoustics demoed for me via virtual reality googles a new "futuristic" speaker I'm not sure I'm supposed to talk about so I won't but it's a huge step forward for a company mostly making LS35A type speakers and when it's introduced its looks alone will amaze you!
Most interesting, novel speakers were from SubDrum Industries, which has found way to use drum enclosures as speaker enclosures. You'll see them in action in the video.
I wish I could tell you there was a lot of analog news, or any analog news but there really wasn't any. Hopefully AXPONA and definitely Munich High End 2024 will offer more. Which doesn't mean this wasn't a great show, because it was.

Can’t wait til the next video!
One of your best show reports. Really like the extended interviews (versus a series of quickly passing images).
Really impressed with the technology of the Denmark Audio Group Aavik folks. Thank you Michael. Greetings from Italy.
Always great to see a video from one of the OG's.
I love watching these show videos. Thanks for making them!
The borresen drivers look fabulous. Absolute madness!!
Thank you Michael for enjoying our Clarisys rooms and bringing your awesome recordings. - Clarisys Audio Team and Suncoast Audio Team
Denmark Audio Group is very impressive, like talking to a genius audiophile mad scientist.
Really nice to see everyone so far from home =) Thanks for the re-cap here. Awesome rooms.
First time hearing Wilson audio and the haniwa speakers and those were my 2 favorites from the rooms I visited. The wilsons were so beautiful and soft sounding that made me wish I had a house with room just for those to listen to. I didn't want to leave the haniwa room! I sat in the front center chair in the room in between those two speakers and the amount of depth and clarity those two speakers provided was mind-blowing. I had to kick myself out of the room otherwise I would have sat there until the show ended😊
Some great looking and sounding gear in this video. The Boresson room was very interesting.
I can’t believe that I have actually sit through an entire show without leaving at some point, this was very great” have some good offerings but besides that you really know how to make in engaging 🎉
I WAS THERE!!!!
You’ll never get any sense out of Ted from Synergystic Research!
Thanks Michael for bringing the show to my living room. The Metaxas guy is funny! You two would make a good comedy team.
Fantastic! Quite a bit of digital systems in this one, but still got my analogue fix! Especially with those tape machines, wowwww!😊
I wonder if every stop in this show's tour generates sales for each one of these vendors so as to justify the trouble of traveling, packing, unpacking, installing, etc... I've been going for 2 years now, but I've never seen anyone actually walling out with anything beyond the literature. There were 12 floors with about 6 rooms on each floors, so if you wanted to visit each one, it would take a lot of time. I went on Sunday this year, and there probably weren't as many people attending as on the previous 2. Still it was fun to see and hear super expensive equipment I'll never be able to afford, and the salespeople were really very nice. There was one room with an Irish guy I saw last year that had probably the most beautiful turntable I had ever seen. I didn't see those vendors this year. The vendors started packing up about 1 hour before the show ended as I was reaching the bottom floors. Very impressive, and I strongly recommend you try attending one of these shows when they come to your town.
Fremerrrrr!! The best audio show coverage!
Insane prices
Dear Michael, It´s me, "What the Fux" from Austria. I would have, if you may think about this topic, a question about expensive listed Records: For Example, Taylor Swift - Folklore The long pond studio sessions listed on Amazon for 799,- USD and on Discogs at a Price mostly about 300,- USD. Are these Records really so expensive or how come this? I cannot really believe this... Sorry for being of topic now... I just watching the video now. It´s good you are still on your feet at work like a youngster!
Luv to hear more about the solitaire and also the story behind garrard stylus particularly also pls
The Just Audio people have some great show prices. I bought a couple of small items from them and it cost me less than at Amazon.
I love these show reports but man, some of these prices are just so outlandish, especially the dacs. And is it really $ well spent to pair $11K speaker cable with $19K speakers? I mean, if you have the budget for that, wouldn’t you be better served to go for a pair of $30K speakers and scrounge around for enough loose change for a solid $1K pair of, say, Audioquest speaker cable?

Thanks Michael for this great tour. I really want to jnow why reel 2 reel doesn't shoot up like vinyl. I feel it has a huge advantage
0:04 records, more new records. (My fave Fremer line)
Amphyion speakers are well known in europe, their golden time though was in the 00s. Very very good ones in their categories.
My dad used to say to me when I got home from school " Don't try to sneak in your room like that.I know what you've got behind your back. Your maths teacher Miss Jones"
Thanks I'm a Luxman fan! does the latest integrated amp have phono input pls Thanks for your vids and your replies back too😊
Nice seeing giuliani getting a proper job I didn't know he nose so much about speakers!!!!
23:50 - All I can think of is Lebowski's landlord's "cycle" when I hear this. 🙂

$220K speakers + $120K amplification = one of the best sound of the show... A bit concerning / worrisome for the future of Hi-Fi if that's what it is truly what takes to get really good sound... Well done though Fremer...

You can get great sound for ALOT less but not that great…
When I was young, I would have had sex first and then listened, today at 65 I like to listen first, at least with speakers. And a reel to reel just for playback for 47K when you can have a mint Studer on which many master tapes were recorded for about 10K? But anyway, people should have fun in their own way and that's what counts.
The sound is very bad on parts of this video

@@trackingangle929 Michael, that is similar to the reply you'll get for every bit of woo-woo, alternative medicine and pseudo-science claim in the world. Every seller of magic healing crystals, psychic readings etc will have testimonies of those who "tried it and it works!" Is there any good reason that we have come to treat high end audio in the same way, where a company can make any implausible technical claim they want, and as long as some audiophiles can imagine an effect "there, proven!????" No more reliable than you'll find at any New Age Physic's Fair? Do we just ignore everything learned from engineering and science? Why?
No matter how much you spend none of this sounds like live music
I was at the show in the room with the Wilson speakers was usually the Worst sounding room at the show.
