Florence live is a monster and whilst you are right that she could have recorded a load of different deliveries and phrasing and picked the best I would not be surprised if she hit a golden thread in a single take. On stage she plays with the delivery a bit and always seems to hit the mark every time.

One of my favorite Florence reactions so far. Wow. You guys need to check out Heaven Is Here, Free, and My Love music videos. They are all connected to King. Very visual album.

Interesting that you picked up on the Gothic vibes. Most of the fans consider her a Pagan goddess, and she's really been mixing that into her imagery and style since the first album. If (when) you check out more of Florence (I'd recommend Delilah, Cosmic Love, Heaven is Here and Free) you'll probably pick up on her style a little more. As a fellow metalhead I admit she's one of the very few pop artists I appreciate, but IMO she's got the originality, lyrical ability and artistry I appreciate. And she can really sing. Edited to add, check out the video for Big God, too, it's amazing.

‘Delilah’ live from Glastonbury 2015 where she had to fill in the headlining slot at a weeks notice when Dave Grohl of the Foo fighters broke his leg is stunning and well worth a watch whatever genre you love. There were loads of questions as to whether she could hold a stage that big. She blew those away……..

As someone who loves metal and hard rock, I learned to appreciate the deep lyrics, the percussion and of course the powerful vocals (specially her fast vibrato) of Florence + the Machine. She's definitely one of my guilty pleasures. And definitely check out her live performances. King is from their latest album, but Florence is probably an artist that can be classified as indie baroque pop rock. The album I could say that is probably the most "rock" themed is their third album How Big How Blue How Beautiful so that is probably what you can check out.

In her albums you can follow her development as a vocalist, lyricist, artist, musician and person as a whole. Her big breakthrough came in her early 20s, "Kiss With a Fist" which was so much fun to see her perform after all these years in her most recent American Tour. Her mother is a Professor of Literature at a big UK university and she attended catholic school. You will find many Gothic references in her music. She sounds even better live and in person, especially with the way her fans reflect her imagery. Not to mention the Gothic Alter onstage in her most recent tour. She would put the gifts from her fans on the alter during the concert. Please keep digging into Florence + The Machine. She is King in the UK, but for some reason, the US media just don't pick her up.

@@MetalheadsReactToHipHop No more sophisticated. I caught them performing on Letterman back in the day and F+TM pulled me into their web. A voice like hers doesn't come around very often. Patti Smith and Shirley Manson maybe? From their first album "Lungs" I would suggest hits "Rabbit Heart", or "Dog Days Are Over"; Deeper tracks could be "Howl" or "Drumming Song". She is the only artist I know of who employs a harp player full time.

Oh she'd be delighted to be called goth I think. She's really into preraphaelite, art nouveau, druid, witch imagery. I think I heard she used to run something of a small coven as teen? might be misremembering, but she's really into dark themes, occult imagery, superstition, and "beauty in tragedy" ideals, she's definitely in goth territory, just not the mainstream all black goth.

I was scared of this reaction (it’s the first time i see you, great video!) because metalheads tend to hate everything that it’s not rock and metal hahaah. I love almost any kind of music and this reaction was amazing, unlike others i have seen that tend to be overreacted and kinda fake. I saw Florence this year, as well as metallica in the same festival, and she was phenomenal; in awe the whole time. She’s like the Stevie Nicks of this century and her music reminds me a lot to fleetwood mac. She’s super talented and charismatic. Anyway, long live good music! 🙌🏻🌼

I can see the Fleetwood Mac connection. And I actually think most metal heads are pretty open minded, but maybe that’s just the ones we know. We are also musicians too, so we are into and play all kinds of music. Overreacting is definitely not our vibe, you won’t see us jumping out of our seats lol
