    This is one of the best flying planes of all time! Just flew it in 8 mph of wind and it took off in 6 feet, flew easily into the wind, was a hoot to buzz the local wildlife and sparrows that came out to fly along side and landed like silk on the same basketball court. With a ratty 850, it flew almost 10 minutes. Excellent plane to build in an afternoon for newbies and Flite Fest veterans alike.

    Josh has a very gentle and peaceful nature about him. A man who has found his "Wa." Lovely to watch him work. I appreciate the simplicity of the products. In an age of 3d design/manufacuring its a pleasure to see his dedication to 2d. I work with cad/cam everyday and it seems to take the fun out of a build. Thank you Josh, keep it up mate.

    Thanks for this build video. I built the scout with the speed build kit from flite test. I intended for it to be my trainer. It was my trainer. Then after 4 flights it finally gave its last breath. I learned to fly and in the process I killed an innocent spinning, processing articulating being. But the scout is my phoenix. It shall come back from the ashes as a magnificent warbird the mini F-22.

    This mini Scout is such a great flying model, easy to build, easy to fly slow and fast and even with 3 channel able to do some aerobatic like inverted ... Very good for the beginner cause it flies so reliable. It has become my favorite evening flyer for an easy and relaxed fun experience in a smaller yard. Thanks to flitetest for the plans. Soon i'll build a second one for a friend of mine....

    Absolutely love all the stoppables, and the Mini Scout is no exception. I would like to see a large version on the MS, as Josh indicated it might be on the way. These are all easy to build and fly. Lots easier that building with balsa! Not to mention the cost! Thanks, FT team, appreciate all the hard work you guys do, even though it does look like a lot of fun.

    I downloaded the plans and built one of these, British foam board is a bit thicker and heavier than the US version so you have to allow for the extra width when cutting. Mine was a bit slow due to the extra weight of some mods so I used a Blue wonder 1300v motor (ebay) , it goes like stink but not so good flying slow. All praise to the Flite test team.

We gotta start seeing challenges with the minis. I'm thinking mini obstacle course (indoor and outdoor), and how many minis can the Krakken hold and launch at the same time.

    Should use Colored Construction Paper in your builds to make them easier to see when flying. Say, Safety Orange, a Bright Red. This way you won't loose them in the Clouds and also makes them easier to Spot after a Crash.

    This is just the basic frame. People usually will add color themselves by using tape or paint. I'm not sure if the Minwax coating that is usually used as paint foundation or tape will add too much weight on these small planes though.

  • @ravenlorans

    @ravenlorans

    9 жыл бұрын

    For their Build Videos or for others, Use the Colored Con. Paper instead of the white, right off. Some times it's hard to see the Plane while they are filming, do to it Blending into the Clouds because it's %100 white. This way it would make it easier for us viewers to see the plane fly if they used a Colored Con Paper, Safety Orange or more likely Red. No extra weight is added from tape or paint. Just switching White for Red or Orange (or what ever color). And if they don't use a Con Paper in Con. Use some Stickers before Test Flying so we can Actually see the Plane better and not have it Disappearing into the clouds.

    ravenlorans I think they tried colored foamboard way back in 2013. They sayd its not as strong as the simple white foam. The reason there is no paper coating or color involved is to keep it simple. Especially if you are new to building and flying, it would be a shame if you crash your beautiful colored plane or if you are to afraid to fly it because you put much effort in the asthetics. That is why they show it that way.

  • @ravenlorans

    Skyliner04s Not Foam Board. I know that. It was the Black stuff that didn't work. I am talking about Construction Paper in place of Poster Board/Turtle Neck Skins. And if not Construction Paper, Colored Card Stock.

    I just found a way to create a more consistent bevel. Just cut the paper on one side of the foamboard at the place where the blue line of the bevel mark on the plans is before beveling. This makes the angle way more consistent.

    I think it would be awesome if you sold a laser cut pattern on plastic that we could use to trace onto the Dollar Tree foam board. You could also include thicker plastic angle gauges as well. It would be a kit that would likely fit between using printed patterns and pre-cut foam.
