The problem with being an introvert is that it takes me FOREVER to be comfortable enough with a guy to be myself and show him my personality. Most guys give up and move on to someone more open before I can get over my social anxiety enough to reciprocate his interest. Sigh.

I feel this so hard. Pretty sure a guy I went to college with liked me back, but my shy self was too awkward to make a move/show signs those feelings were reciprocated. He probably thinks I hated him in retrospect or full on friendzoned him 😩

When I found my Ms. Right, at first she was slow to be herself around me. She was so slow and apprehensive when we met, that I thought romance would never blossom, so I started flirting with other women for a year and a half before the introverted girl asked me to hang out with her and eventually confess her feelings 2-3 months later. I'm glad she took that initiative and later on we got married, but had she waited longer, I definitely would have gone for someone else. I wish you luck.

You do have game you just don't know it. Introvert women are the queens when it comes to quiet one on one conversations. At parties we tend to find one or two people to talk to versus being the life of the party with the whole group. We attend to one person at a time and men like the feeling that a woman is just focusing on them. It does get better with age also believing we are all the same on an equal playing field regardless of looks, education, social status helps. Society tells us that looks, education and social status matters and to be honest the majority of the humans living on the earth believe that. When you find the person who doesn't live by those standards then that is the person who you will have the connection with. In my 20s I would have never talked to a man who was handsome or of a different social status because I would have thought he was out of my league and at 20 or 30 many men and women do go by that. Now as someone who is older I realize we are equals even if the other person doesn't believe it and aging does even the playing field when it comes to physical attractiveness. Start out practicing talking to random strangers who are women then work up to men. I start conversations all the time with people because I like to now. Practice starting a conversation about the most little thing like don't those oranges look good today at the grocery store or oh I like your outfit. The key is what ever you start the conversation with has to be something you really mean or are interested in. If you say you like an outfit you have to mean you really like it. I've noticed that when I converse with men in a honest open way not even in a flirting way they do engage. I think many men really want good conversations with women who listen without making assumptions about them right off the bat. Just use the skills that introverts possess and you will be fine. It might take you a bit longer but you will get there.

@@obg3260 I'm a bit lonely now too. I haven't taken the plunge to date after my divorce. It is scary so I can give out advice but maybe I don't take my own advice all the time. I guess what freaked me out a bit is when I did start talking to men in social interest groups I usually got the attention of younger men. It weirded me out a bit. Also, the population in general where I live is younger with the median age being 27 so the reality is there are less men my age. There are always some difficult factor we are up against I guess.

It’s weird some guys I’ve dated I was shy around and other times I was on fire. I found the more I believe I know about a guy the more relaxed I am. If I have a good grip on his personality I can approach him no matter how sexy I believe he is. If I believe he will be great to talk to I can talk to him. If I believe he won’t want me it’s much harder. Change your thoughts and lower the risk and it will be easier to approach him. He is just a guy you think is interesting, you want to see if that assumption is correct. Visualize a winning conversation then follow through by having it. Easier said than done but your thoughts are what is keeping you away. They are also what’s going to get you the guy.

I think this is perfect information because introverts do these type of conversations naturally. Maybe not the flirting part necessarily but we are the people who make poignant statements or notice something special or interesting about the people we are interacting with. I've had some really nice conversations with men and women just be complimenting someone on their hair or clothes or observable behaviors like when a mom or dad is treating their children with respect. I never give empty compliments only ones that I believe at that moment in time.

@@anneotherday I came across some information about the differences between the introvert brain and the extrovert brain. Extroverts need more external stimulation to keep their brain in an active state whereas introverts' brains are always active without external stimulation. That is why we need down time to actually to bring down our brains from over stimulation.

Looking back, I realized this peak-end thing seems to be something I've sort of done subconsciously over the years. A friend of mine told me recently that although I don't talk much, when I do, he knows it will be something funny or really thoughtful and that's honestly one of the best compliments I've ever gotten. It definitely takes being comfortable around people to get that out of me, but this was reassuring in supporting that idea of quality over quantity. I'm so glad I came across this video and that this concept seems to have real proven value in social settings.

Matthew, you realise that you've just given me advice that in my 50 year of birth feels too late & wishes I had known this in my heyday. They say, you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but if I get the chance I'll give these a go. Thank you 😘
