We are going to flip a bathroom. This bathroom was mostly renovated by the homeowner, but needs to be brought to the finish line. This is the only bathroom in this three bedroom 1949 bungalow.
The toilet had been replaced, wainscotting put up, and the tub and shower surround had been started, but was only to the point where the masonry board has been installed. We needed to update the vanity, tile the shower surround, and paint everything!
The project was spread of a few days, first the tile setter came in taped and mortared all the joints, then after that had dried over night he sealed everything with Red Guard to make an impervious waterproof barrier. Then he installed the 12"x24" porcelain tiles with a simulated marble finish. This is where he really shined! Matching all of the veining really made this shower pop. The next day he finished the tile with a sanded grout. After he was done, I replaced the vanity top with a simulated marble, reattached the plumbing and started in on the painting. All of the white was a hi-gloss Behr, and the walls are a Satin Behr Marquee in a soft beige color. Material costs were right around $300.00, the tile was an addition $1,000 installed.
