Flight Velocity ACE Flight Control Console | Flight Sim Wings | Yoke | Vernier TPM

Ойын-сауық

Runthrough of the ACE Flight Control Console designed and built by Flight Sim Wings and distributed by Flight Velocity.
There is some new gear in town! I think this gear hits a good spot for those that want to move up from the Honeycomb, Logitech gear without paying top end pricing. It's nice to have some options.

    1:30 ... Thanks for including the measurements! Flight Velocity does not have them posted! Mounting an AltimeterMotives Panel on the Flight Velocity Ace Control Panel (vs. mounting on my 5" high Alpha Yoke), will drop my view over the glare shield by 1-1/4 inches. The height of the AltimeterMotives Gen2 Panel (with 23.8" monitor attached), is about 13-1/4". The height of the Ace Control is 3-1/4". The combo = 16-1/2" high. That's probably still a little higher than in the real Cessna 172 but do-able so thanks again for including the measurements! My conclusion:... I looked up the prices if purchased separately...Honeycomb Yoke ($349), Throttle/trim wheel combo ($199), Avionics Switch Panel ($90), Flaps Switch ($77), Landing Gear Switch ($57), Fuel Selector ($88), Brake Switch ($63)... or about $896 total! The difference is about $400! Is doesn't sounds like an unreasonable price when you add the following: ... the metal cabinet ...$$, ...7,8, or 9? USB connector cables ...$$, a USB Hub to connect them all... $$, the labor time to rig it all together... $$(time is money,money is time!) Plus it looks GREAT!

    @@crown4770 Yeah, that is a substantial increase in price. Looking at some of the gear I just saw at Flight Sim Expo 2024, I would worry about being competitive.

    The console looks impressive. I use the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo and just like you I am looking for a step up and figure this may be it. The only things, that you also point out is the terrible little trim wheel but I guess I could mount an external one either the old saitek trim or the one from FlightVelocity. What is your opinion about the yoke though. It really lacks buttons and a view POV toogle, does it bother you or are you using Tooby eye tracker or similar? I giess the option is to buy a plywood board do cutouts and just pick other sim part and mount them yourself.

    Interesting timing. I just picked up a Tobii eye tracker but have really not started using it. I will probably have a video up on that soon related to private pilot training. Having said that, I never used the hat switch for views. I have views programed in my numeric key pad on the right of the keyboard. I use 5 for normal view, 4 for left, 6 for right, and in MSFS I use 8 for smart cam view which will lock on the runway. 1,2,3 are external views. Having used the ACE for a bit now, my biggest gripe would be the bungee that give the yoke its tension is a bit spongy, so it doesn't bring the yoke back to the exact spot when you relax or let go of it. I am going to see about putting a stiffer bungee in. Otherwise, I am still in love with this gear.

    The yoke/throttle combo looks like a good product to have. Tried the flight sim stuff tpm but the clamp deformed. Have you tried the flight velocity console?

    Does each of the components need individual binding? Difficult and time consuming to do that ? Thanks

  • @IvanSkyFlight

    @IvanSkyFlight

    Correct, each component will need to be bound as of now. I don't know if they are working on an app/profile like Honeycomb has. Having said that, it's really not that hard to set it up.

    Are you still enjoying the Control Console? How realistic has it been with the yolk and throttle controls?

  • @IvanSkyFlight

    @IvanSkyFlight

    7 ай бұрын

    Yes, I still love it. Given that there is no force feedback, I would say the yoke is fairly realistic. The throttles are about the same. Definitely a step up from the Honeycomb stuff (which I still love).

    I just got the flight velocity ace controls, I’m having difficulty binding the controls (pretty much every switch and control). Does this work for MSFS 2020?

  • @IvanSkyFlight

    It works in MSFS and XPlane for sure. Have you gone into Windows and run the USB controller app to make sure it's recognized and to calibrate the axes (yoke, TPM)? Occasionally, I have to unplug and then plug the device back in.

    @@IvanSkyFlightI got it to work, for the most part. All of the switches and the yoke is bonded, but the trim wheel and parking brake doesn’t really work. Were you able to get it to work? Even though you use a different one for trim

    Is it spring loaded like your honeycomb? Or is it more like the red bird yoke which is a little more realistic?

  • @IvanSkyFlight

    @IvanSkyFlight

    6 ай бұрын

    I have never used Red Bird gear. The ACE uses a single bungie cord as near as I can tell. I will say that it's a bit lax in the center compared to the Honeycomb Alpha. I think if it was too loose for taste it could be tightened.
