Flight Review -- Legend Hobby/Seagull Models P-47D 'Little Bunny'

Ойын-сауық

Here is my flight review for the Seagull Models P-47D 'Little Bunny' from Legend Hobby (bit.ly/LegendHobby). This is a fantastic flying airplane that I've really been enjoying and with the repaint, I love the looks of it! The model has great presence in the air and the performance is about perfect. For power (links below), I'm using a Tomcat 420kv motor with an APC 15x10 prop that I've clipped down to 14.5" diameter and a Spektrum Smart 6s 5000 mah battery. Full assembly details are in my assembly review ( • Video ). Spektrum file download for the airplane is available thercgeek.com/downloads #P47 #ScaleModel #TheRCGeek

    Great review as per usual Chris. I have just got my hands on the Seagul Snafu version which I would assume is the exact same model. Thanks for the build tips. Did you get a reading on your current draw & wattage readings using the tomcat? I’m heading towards the redback 91 400kv. 👍

    I did take a reading, but I can’t remember what it was. It spec’d out really well when I measured it, I do remember that.

    Looks like landing requires more of a round out than a flare. Looks great in the air and seems to fly just as good as it looks. Great review, thanks for sharing.

  • @Thercgeek

    That’s fair. It took some practice to get the landings. She likes a touch of power all the way down to the ground and yeah as you say a round out. And if you can touch one wheel first it really helps with a smooth touchdown.

    @@Thercgeek The models you build/assemble and review are models we all aspire to own. These monstrosities I've been flying since the mid 1990's take much work and money to construct, more money and work to get them to the field, and, for me, constant stress of 'I hope I don't dumb thumb' during this flight. All I see is $'s in the air and a lot of the fun kind of goes by the wayside. I truly enjoy your channel and the models you review. H

    Do you think they stretched the nose on it much? It looks like it a little, but I'm still trying to figure it out. Jugs are always nice flying models. Thanks for the super video! You did a bang up job on the repaint.

    Do you happen to have experience with the FMS 1500 foam P-47? If so, how would you compare these two? For somebody with experience only with smaller (1100mm-ish) foam planes, looking to get into a 1500mm-ish P-47... This plane looks great, but would obviously cost a fair bit more to get flying, and I would also worry about the learning curve for repairing a balsa, covered plane etc... Thanks.

    Unfortunately, I’ve not flown the fms 1500. I’ve heard good things about it. Compared to this, I’m guessing that the fms would fly a bit lighter. This one flies great, but tends to fly a little heavy.

    Would it be possible to add a naked GoPro for in flight video capabilities?

  • @Thercgeek

    @Thercgeek

    Yeah, the airplane would handle that fine. I have a run am for that, but The problem for me is that I fly at a field on a military base, so no inflight video/pics are allowed.

    P47 Thunderbolt Great Plane far more rugged than the P51 but it just don't sound like an R2800 Double Wasp Radial does it? You'd think that there would be some way to simulate engine sounds with something that works like a goose or duck call disguised as a drop tank or a bomb. Just an Idea. Any sound engineers out there.

  • @Thercgeek

    @Thercgeek

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much! I tried a few different things and ultimately the only mod I ended up making to the file was adding a slot for the bomb release on one half. The fins are designed as a single piece and I simply glued them onto the two bomb halves and that’s what acted as the hinge.
