P-47 SNAFU CRASH!!!

Ғылым және технология

sooner or later it comes around to all who fly rc. this wasnt a problem of my futaba system it was too much of a hurry? too hot out? low lifE battery? poor plug in connection? what ever the case it was human error. you can see the left wingtip drop coming out of the last bank before the loop. that wasnt me on the controls that was my first clue there was something wrong and as i went into the loop the elevator was mush and whatever it was caused a snap and the rest is history. The good news is that the FG-19 made it! as soon as i was able i had the wee 3 cylinder radial on the hard stand and it seems to have made through this just fine . i had to bend back the motor mounts and there is a small chip in the velocity stack but the engine still runs just fine and will find its new home on my topflite .60 corsair, video to come so stay tuned!

Sorry for your loss. I love the p47! however I don't think it was a radio problem. in the video you can see that while you are pulling the looping he snaps and immediately afterwards he spins. I think you had given too much travel on the elevator and you have exceeded the characteristics of the plane. I apologize to everyone if I wrote errors but I am using the translator.

Oh man my heart broke with that beautiful plane! Sorry that happened to you mate! I lost my best plane like this. An 88 inch Extreme Flight Yak 54 with a DA60cc engine. I had bought it second hand and the previous owner had done some weird wiring job on the plane. It seemed to fly fine for several months but one day she went off the air as i was coming in to land. One battery was flat but the other one was ok. Obviously the redundancy didn't work. From that day i vowed NEVER to buy a second hand plane ever again! All the planes i've built i have NEVER had one go off the air. Glad the donk survived mate! Subbed to your channel.

Hey man, .. you put out good videos. Disappointing, the crash. This is half guess, half question .. is it possible that something could have shifted, or dislodged, that last second of hard maneuvering, that you did have control? If so, .. causing a pulled apart wired connection? That 3 cylinder engine looks pretty sweet. How are you enjoying the weather? .. I live in southern Minnesota, too. Thanks

It's so, so common to blame the radio in a moment of "shock" when a model nails the ground hard, when in 95% of cases it's pilot error, or the assembler of the ARF made mistakes in the control system or electronics layout!! "I got Hit, I got Hit" Sure looked like a accelerated stall to me, although a P47 is the most forgiving warbird there is!

  • @natelove187

It could have been a receiver battery, 2.4ghz interference or a high speed stall. People don’t like Jeti Radios but Jeti Radios have two 2.4ghz antennas and a backup 900mhz receiver. The Jeti will tell you in advance if you are losing signal or if your receiver battery is spiking voltage. You need a backup for that backup and for that backup🍷 P.S. There’s nothing wrong with having 2 or 3 different manufacturers Radios. Some guys use Spektrum and Futaba for their less expensive models and use Jeti Radios for their expensive models. I have Airtronics Radio (Never lost a Plane), Futaba 16SZA and the most luxurious radio Jeti DS 16 Carbon.

Looked like the RX batt voltage was 4.7 v as displayed on the TX. That is too low and probably why you lost control. if that checks out, it did look like a stall spin, secondary stall hit the ground scenario also. Yeah, you did not have control, because it was stalled. Not because the radio failed.

@@jagdpanther9RCaircraft ohhhhh no!!!! Well u know we all make mistakes.. Does your futaba radio have a TX & RX battery display on the LCD screen?? I know the newer futaba radio's have that function.. I have an old school futaba radio that doesn't have that display and I may sound a little over cautious but I've had a similar situation happen to me one time, not as large scale as your mishap but with a old gas stick .20 plane. My tx battery went dead right after it got airborne and all functions went nutty and I was able to crash land it without any major issues.. So after that mishap. I charge my batteries and hit umm with the ol volt meter before I slap them in any of my rc stuff ..just cause... I bought a fly sky radio with the bind n fly receiver tech... There a Chinese brand radio and there no futaba, but damm do they work great!! And they have the tx and Rx battery display on the LCD screen and give me a warning when the batteries go low.. I just luvv fly sky radio's... Well I hope u get ur p47 up and runnin soon.....take care...

about 10 years ago, i had a Yak, from Great Planes, and i used to use Life batteries. I only had one battery, no redundancy system in the plane. it had a 30 cc nitro motor in it. It was the first flight of the morning. I had charged the battery that morning. I checked the voltage before hand, and took her off. I then flew her for 9 minutes and landed the plane. As I was taxiing her back, all of a sudden, the motor quit and one elevator dropped. On the ground, all of a sudden, I had lost radio control of the airplane. Then I checked the battery, and the voltage was 4.2 that is when I knew, never again use a LIFE A123 battery. So sorry my friend.

I went with HiTec after losing 5 airplanes in a row. Then I had problems with their 8 channel recievers and lost 2 more. The micro receivers had two failures too. I miss my old pre '90s gear that never failed. Even on 72 kHz. Beware of flying around powerlines, chain link fences, metal buildings and schools. 2.4 ghz. Is not infallible and it doesn't work as well around the above mentioned hazards. Remember flying on 28 kHz? Ouchies for your airplanes.

I have to disagree. He was attempting full throttle and you could hear he had NOTHING. You’re absolutely going to stall being unable to increase airspeed. So yes it was a stall, but not pilot error. In my opinion.
