I’ve got my 28 year old son onto Porridge. When I showed him a clip of The Two Ronnies, he was amazed that Fletch wasn’t Ronnie Barker’s real accent. Goes to show how great he was.

Going straight is better than you might think, on KZread. I hadn’t seen it since it was first aired and the writing is still bloody good. The fist episode is a two hander( almost) with fletch and McKay. A blinding bit of writing and really superb acting. I go back to it often, seamless.

Ronnie Barker was a brilliant character actor..... his attention to detail , was extraordinary and meticulous....he had this an incredible ability to evolve himself and almost morph into the character he was performing...from the mannerisms,..voice and accent to walking mechanics and demeanor....he was a genius of comedy,...both as an actor and as a writer....one of a kind
