Porridge is a British sitcom, starring Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale, written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, and broadcast on BBC1 from 1974 to 1977. The programme ran for three series and two Christmas specials. A feature film of the same name based on the series was released in 1979.
The sitcom focuses on two prison inmates, Norman Fletcher (played by Barker) and Lennie Godber (played by Beckinsale), who are serving time at the fictional HMP Slade in Cumberland. The show's title is a reference to both the traditional breakfast that used to be served in British prisons, and a 1950s British slang term for a prison sentence.

Ken Jones (horrible Ives) was a regular passenger when I was a bus driver in Aberystwyth, he lived in a small village called Llanrhystud, a lovely charming humble man he was.
I still watch it. Brilliant and it’s up there with only fools and horses my fav comedies 😊

100% agree. Only Fools and Horses was perhaps the greatest sitcom ever considering the sheer volume of one liners. I always hope that the writer John Sullivan OBE will be awarded a Knighthood posthumously.

And David Jason was in both of them. It was Porridge that encouraged Ronnie Barker to get him cast as Granville in Open All Hours, and then Sir David's career really took off...

I have the box set and watch it every 2 -3 years. A wonderful sitcom with a superb cast R.I.P.

Does slightly suggest that the narrator hasn't actually seen the show.... if you'd heard Fulton McKay (whose name is also mispronounced) say "Mr Barrowclough", you wouldn't get that wrong. Still, easy to criticize .... and a hangover is making me even more critical than usual......

And he was in bottom with Rik Mayal after meeting him when they were both in American werewolf in London, at the time Rik was unknown so when the young ones took off everybody mentioned his appearance in the film ⚡

Think you need to do your research more thoroughly. At least three wrong things in this video. Richard Benkinsale died of a heart attack and not a fall. Fulton Mackay died of stomach cancer and not a fall. And the picture of Mr Collinson are not the same person. Makes me wonder if you have ever seen the show, poorly researched piece yet again.
