Omi Alliance crest getting smashed through in transition to the second phase + The sunset in final phase really hammers home that this is truly the end of Yakuza age. It’s time for the relic of that bygone era to sleep forever.

Shishido didn’t even realize it, but he finally found a kindred spirit with kiryu. After years of fighting alone and ignoring any bonds he could have made, his final fight is with a man who, in essence, is just like him; a broken shell of a man still clinging to the past. Shishido can’t let go of the yakuza lifestyle, and neither could kiryu. The difference is, kiryu found something much more important than the yakuza. Shishido had nothing else left.

Kiryu wants to let go of the yakuza lifestyle but is dragged back into it whenever the Tojo Clan is in need of his aid. Meanwhile, Shishido embraced the yakuza lifestyle and didn't wanna let it go due to it being the only lifestyle he knows.

@@MikeJr9284 it’s a truth a lot of fans don’t like to acknowledge, but in the end, kiryu felt a loyalty to the Tojo. It was more than obligation. The Tojo and the orphanage are the two most important things in kiryu’s life, as much as he wants to deny it. But this game confirms that the orphanage is more important to him, and that it’s more important by a mile or ten.

The transition between Deadly Struggle to this is just sublime, as if the framing of the two opponents. Kiryu stands with his back to the sunset, representing the future perhaps. And Shishido is standing beneath the huge Omi crest on the wall of the building, representing the final holdout of the Yakuza themselves. You're not just fighting one man: you're fighting the essence of the Yakuza itself. And maybe Shishido is starting to realise by this stage that this is only ending one way. But he keeps fighting, because that's all he has left.

The rhythm of this song, it feels so sad and emotinal. Along with the details among the final battle, the image of defeated Shishido covered with blood, struggle to get up and the sunset at the end of the battle, all of that details show us one clear thing: The age of Yakuza is truly come to the end. "Dragon of Dojima", "Mad Dog of Shimano" or "Taiga 18-count Seajima", from this moment, in the eyes of other humans, they are just some title, without any other meanings. Shishido is the final struggle of the Yakuza age, before it comes to an eternal sleep.

There are some similarities with battle for the dream, not the song, but the fight with Aizawa. A low ranked Yakuza fighting for the right to stand at the top against a legend. But whereas Aizawa's role was awkward, it was perfect with Shishido. He wasn't just fighting to reach the top, but to hold together the yakuza in it's entirety and had every motivation to do it. They really said let's try again with the battle for the dream. And they nailed it this time.

Yep, Shishido is Aizawa done right. The battle itself is also a copy of Aizawa's in many ways. Starts at the Omi's main room, transitions into just outside it then they fall down to the lobby (and there is even a chandelier falling down) which ends up with the final phase being taken outside. It perfectly mirrors the different transitions in Aizawa's fight too and on top of that. Shishido has an insanely huge healthbar similar to Aizawa. It really does feel like RGG wanted to do the idea behind Aizawa justice, and they absolutely nailed it with Shishido. Can't believe they went this hard on creating an antagonist for something that was originally going to be DLC. Also there is good evidence to suggest Hanawa is Morinaga, so that adds another fun little Y5 character they are trying to make right if it ends up being true.

aizawa was a dude that got roped into a stupid scheme for his father's dream, which led to him getting a good chance to have his own dream seen. aizawa fit his role, but fitting his role isn't enough for the final boss. honestly it woulda been cool if we saw the aizawa/morinaga duo fight together again instead of him being hanawa to fill in a stupid plot hole
