The son is basically a character that has severe mental issues but can see the very core and the very truth very easily So when he says tell her to leave him It's supposed to mean he understands how terrible the relationship is on deep level And he's also probably doing it out of genuine love for Claire Not jealousy

Fun fact, Catholic priests weren't required to be celibate until the 11th century, and it was more for political reasons than religious ones. The Church in Rome had a lot of political power, and following the same family inheritance rules in the Church hierarchy as the nobility did concentrated power too much, leading to corruption and abuse. Also, oddly, men can get postpartum depression. Obviously it's not, uh, as common haha.

Interesting that the therapist in this episode is played by Fiona Shaw, who had a prominent role in another BBC series 'Killing Eve.' A series which Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who plays Fleabag was a huge part of the creative process helping to write & direct.
