Flax seed is best purchased a certain way and best eaten a certain way. In this video I'll tell you how!
You can use the ground up flaxseed in a smoothie or sprinkle the ground flaxseed on your oatmeal or cereal.
I suggest you purchase unroasted, whole flaxseed and grind it yourself. Once flaxseed is ground up, it starts to break down and lose its potency.

    Incorporate seeds & nuts in my diet. All seeds except flax I sprinkle on my food. I tried to grind them in a mortar & pestal, but didn't work well. After thinking about it for a while I came up with this; I chew a tablespoon a day. Best grinder of all.

    The thing is , once grounded, the oils contained will start to oxidize, destroying all the benefits it could have given. Not sure at all about keeping it in the fridge will make it any better. Personally, I grind them every time, just the amount I'm going to use. Virtually all seeds will last for years and even centuries, but once the shell is cracked, they'll die very quickly.

Be sure to drink plenty of water when consuming seeds… as they will continue to absorb liquid all the way thru your system.

    Yes! Must be ground when you consume them, but best to grind them right before. I put whole flax seeds into my green smoothie and the blender completely pulverizes them -- there are only little specks left. The first time I did it I doubted the blender could do that, but it works like a charm. Fresh and gound so you can absorb them -- and no separate grinding step. My food processor does not grind the flaxseeds nearly as finely as the blender. I usually put 30g of flaxseeds and 30g of chia seeds into my 64oz smoothie which I consume over the course of the day. My HDL and LDL cholesterol have improved immensely since I started consuming smoothies with flaxseeds.

    I don't put the flaxseeds in the blender dry. I start making the smoothie with about half of the ingredients, then add the flaxseeds and blend for another minute, then add the rest of the veggies. The flaxseeds are completely ground up and they don't stick to anything. One less step. Works perfectly for me.

    @@gloryb-tv LOL, I see what you mean, I'll try that again. Isn't it more convenient if they're already roasted, so all you have to do is grind it and use it? Buy the flaxseeds whole & raw. Store in the refrigerator. Grind them as you need them in a coffee bean grinder. Don't roast them at all.

  • @Joeboken

    @Joeboken

    @@gloryb-tv Thank you, but I've read that raw flaxseed has toxins. I intend on eating them ground, by the tablespoonful straight out of the container, not in a cooked dish, is it ok to eat them raw? I was going to store them, then take out how much I want, toast them and grind them as needed. But you say just eat them raw? Sorry, this will be my last comment, lol

  • @gloryb-tv

    @gloryb-tv

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Joeboken You've read that raw flaxseed has toxins? Where is the evidence for that? Cooking nuts or seeds in any way alters the nut or seed in such a way that is not healthy for a human body. Roasting nuts and seeds will damage the healthy fat already in the nut/seed. Cooking the nut/seed can make the nut/seed form acrylamide in the nut/seed. As I said in the video, if you eat the whole seed instead of ground up, you will likely pass them through your system whole, which means you got no nutrition from them at all.

  • @gloryb-tv

    Typically your teeth won't break the seeds down enough and your digestive system won't get the benefit from the flax and your system will just pass them.

    Im a 1st timer here. TY u for sharing!!! Very helpful info. Im 50 and new to flax seed and its wonderful benefits.(been using the meal 2x daily about6/7wks) Iv heard Multiple physicians and health enthusiants say it "MUST BE" roasted to kill the phytic acid in it. Their claim is this is very harmful to humans. In contradiction to ur advice, being "NOT" to buy it roasted! Can u offer advice/knowledge u have on the phytic acid component, PLZ!? Im so confused/concerned now, on which is the best way! Im guessing human consumption of flax seed goes back farther than can be dated. And my intuitive assumption is they probably didnt heat it. BUT-Who kws really-Because Someone had to figure out the hard way that peanuts had to be heated, ya kw!? Ur advice on this will be very much appreciated. TY...

    Those so-called doctors don't know what they're talking about. The actual healthy doctors I've been following for many years are super healthy themselves, as are their patients who follow their advice. None of them eat roasted nuts or seeds. I listed & linked to many of these doctors in the Description Box of this video - kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKKh0auudsLfqJM.html Feel free to research what they've written and what they've said about all kinds of food, including roasted nuts and seeds.
